Hah, you thought you were going to wait another month or something, didn't you??? No, I'm on a roll, or I'm on fire, or- Yeah, okay, you should just ignore me and read the chapter XD ~M

.......... Reader's Point of View ..........

"Hagrid... what exactly is that?" Ron asked.

"That, Ron, is a hippogriff! Okay, first thing you'll wanna know 'bout hippogriffs is tha' they're very proud creatures. Very easily offended. You do not want to insult a hippogriff. It may just be the last thing you ever do."

Well, that's a nice... first lesson, Hagrid...

I'm gonna call it right now that something is going to go wrong.

But then again, it wouldn't be Hogwarts without a little flair, you know?

"Now, who'd like to come and say hello?"

Everyone all instantly backed away, but I guess Harry and I are both a bit of an idiot, so we just stayed in place. Hermione was waving her hand at me, trying to get me to move, but, well, the damage was already done.

Sorry, Hermione, you'll have to just live with only Ron now. Pity.

   "Well done, Harry, (y/n)!"

Harry seemed to just now realise that everyone had backed away and he looked at Ron with betrayal. Ron just shrugged and pushed Harry forward.

"Alright, you two come and stand right here, don't want to get too close, you understand. Now, you hav'ta let him make the first move, it's only polite. So, step up, give 'im a nice bow, then you wait and see if he bows back. If he does, you can go and touch 'im. If not, well... we'll get to that later"

Hagrid, this REALLY ISN'T A GOOD IDEA OH MY GOD THE BIG CHICKEN IS ACTUALLY A VERY VERY BIG CHICKEN-

Harry and I hesitantly stood in front of the Very Big Chicken. With everyone watching us. Because we are both utter fools.

"Make your bows," Hagrid quietly reminded us. I looked at Harry and looked back at me with the same cautious expression, and then we both bowed and hoped for the best.

Buckbeak AKA the Very Big Chicken apparently took offence to our bows and started squawking. Hagrid whispered in an urgent tone for us to back off and to keep still at the same time, and we just...

Well, we didn't move very much actually, but we did back up a little bit. At least enough to be out of kicking range. But we can't exactly go back to the group because what if the Big Chicken attacks everyone or something?? And then Hagrid would lose his job and that's a no-no.

Finally, Big Chicken settled down and regarded us for a moment. It was entirely silent in the clearing as we waited for Big Chicken to decide if we were worthy enough for its presence.

He bowed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm WORTHY, SUCK THAT MALFOY.

"Well done, Harry! Well done, (y/n)!" Hagrid congratulated, relieved. He threw another dead rat (or something) to Very Big Chicken.

Harry and I both un-bowed yourselves (is that even a word?) and took a deep breath.

"Go and pat 'im now, go on! Don't be shy!" Hagrid urged.

Feeling pretty confident after Big Chicken's approval, Harry and I slowly walked up to Big Chicken and carefully stuck out our hands.

Now, I do think about some things, so I stuck out my non-dominant hand. Harry obviously didn't think to do that, so he stuck out his right. Big Chicken snapped his beak at us as if threatening us with what will happen if we come any closer and yeah, that's... a wonderful thought.
