Chapter 8

Damon POV

I flew off my chair backwards as soon as Raine sat up in bed

"Real smooth jackass" scoffed Rikko "mate is going to think we are a total tool well done"

"Shut up Rikko" I growled back

I rush to Raines side but she seems scared, oh my poor baby

"Ever considered it's because a stranger is holding onto her hand like she's going to float away" Rikko mumbled

Oh shit I quickly apologise and tell Raine who I am. She doesn't seem to believe me that her parents never stopped looking for her. It's like she doesn't believe she was even missed. Raine is apologising for taking up a bed at the hospital.

"Don't let her stand up!" Rikko shouts at me as Raine gets up off the bed to leave. I can see she's about to fall so I catch her, it does stop her from crashing into the ground however it doesn't stop the stab wound from ripping open

"Why isn't mate healing?!" Rikko asked terrified
"I don't know" I link back

I scream for the doctor, he comes running in with two nurses close behind him. I lay Raine back on the bed, what surprises me most is the fact that she is apologising for bleeding over me. I mean yes there's a lot of blood but I honestly don't care, I need to make Raine better. Wait why is she bleeding so much? Why isn't she healing?

"Doctor why isn't she healing? Help her!" I scream

She's asking for stuff to clean with, that is until she passes out.

"Raine!" I shout to keep her awake but it doesn't work.

"Doctor why isn't she healing?" I ask again

"Alpha I need to take her to surgery, when I have the answers I will tell you. Please let me stop the bleeding and save her." The doctor says back, albeit a little harshly.

All I do is nod back to him as he drags her away for surgery. I link Lyam to come sit with me. I need my friend to stop me from letting Rikko out.

"I'm on my way man hold on!" Lyam links back

I swear it's less than 5 minutes before Lyam comes bursting through the doors and falls on his face in front of me.

"Owwwwww" Lyam groans while standing up.

"Nice entrance" I smirk

"How is she? What happened? Where is she?" I don't think Lyam actually took a breath as he said those words.

"I don't know, she tried to leave because she felt bad about using our hospital and she fell, her Stitches ripped open as I caught her but the bleeding wouldn't stop. It's like she hasn't healed at all." I run my hand down my face and sigh

"I need to call her parents" I gasp I completely forgot to tell them

"I'll do it! You stay here" Lyam runs off before I can say anything.

5 hours pass and I still haven't heard anything. I've done nothing but pace the hallway and ask a nurse, well rather interrogate, about Raine. I'm getting restless and Rikko is about to completely take over and find Raine himself. I'm forced out my thoughts when I hear my name

"Alpha?" I turn to see the doctor coming to me

"Where's Raine? How is she?" I ask desperately

"Alpha Raine is in recovery, her wolf wasn't healing her because she couldn't. A part of the blade was stuck deep inside the wound, only a tiny piece that wasn't seen until her body tried to expel it, seems like the dagger blade was coated in silver hence why Raines wolf could not heal her. Now that the fragment is out she should heal in no time. I gave her a shot which will give her wolf some extra strength to help with the healing process" the doctor calmly explained

I sign and crash into the chair with relief
"Can I go see her?"

"Yes alpha come with me, she may still be asleep but I have placed a reclining chair next to her bed, I had a feeling you'd castrate me unless I let you be with her" the doctor smiled at me, I mean he wasn't wrong.

"Thank you" I opened the room door to see Raine still asleep, I place the chair next to her and hold onto her hand.

"I'm here baby girl, I'm never leaving" I whisper. Raines hand tightens around mine in response, I can't help but smile.
