Chapter 1 - Into the Void

Sarah's POV

Barry and I got an alert. We came here as the alarm was blaring.

It's a system-wide power surge," Barry informed.

We came into the cortex as Barry is typing on the computers.

It's coming from the Time Vault," I said.

Then the computers and everything powers down in the building.

Are we under attack?" I ask my husband.

I don't know," Barry answered. "Whatever's going on started the moment we left.

Barry sped me to the time vault.

I wasn't perfect," Nora's video message plays. "Please remember that I love you both...and I always will. And I always will. And I always will—always—always—"

The video glitched and suddenly Nora's video message turned off and the pod's electricity crackled. Barry ran to the pod and tried to get the drive. He hisses and grunts.

Barry, Nora's message," I tell him.

Barry glanced at me then and back to the pod. Nora's video message got destroyed.

The team and I were here. The Wests invited us for a barbecue since it's still summer. Joe was grilling the hamburgers as Iris and I were standing next to him. while Baby Nora was cooed over by her adoring aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

This is nice, Dad," Iris told her dad. "We should do this way more often.

Agreed," Joe said. "Hey, before I forget, congratulations on the citizen.

Yeah, well, you know, there's millions of people in Central City and we've got only a couple hundred thousand subscribers," I added.

Well, not yet, but in about ten years it'll be a Pulitzer Prize-winning empire," Joe tells us.

Baby steps, Dad," Iris said.

We three laughed.

Never fear, the party's here!" We turned around and saw Cisco and Kamila come out. Cisco shouts and imitates the air horn as he is carrying hot dog buns and hamburger buns. Joe laughs as Iris and I are barbecuing the hamburgers still.

We brought my famous ambrosia salad and veggie dogs for Ralph," Kamila tells us.

Guys, Ralph's still in Peru," Barry said.

Or Monaco...or Texas?" Caitlin added.

All that for a missing person's case?" That's dedication." I wondered.

Guys, guys, what are we doing?" Cecile asked as she came in and held a tray. "Baby Jenna is napping like a little angel and I have creamed corn, I have candied yams, I have collard greens.

All of us looked at her.

Baby, let's eat," Cecile concluded.

Yum!" We all said as Cecile was shimming her hips.

We all laughed. All of us sat at the table. We were talking and laughing. I sat next to Barry having a drink of wine and I had a hot dog. Not much of a fan of hamburgers. while I was holding Baby Nora on my lap.

How's the MAC coming?" Barry asked Cisco.

There's mac and cheese too?" Kamilla asked us.

No, the Mental Augmentation Chamber," Caitlin stated. "Basically, it allows us to tap into the Speed Force to boost Barry's cognitive abilities. It would allow him to see every possible outcome to a scenario at the same time.
