The Plague

On one ordinary day dost this lingering truth arise,

A slithering parasite bound to take its prize.

Change crumbles the world in a blink,

Into despair dost society sink.

I beware for I do not touch thee,

This toile over thy wrinkled visage pains me.

I yearn for a life that had once been,

But those who once stood hand in hand to win

Are dispersed behind veils of turmoil and hate.

O, my Lord! Must this be my fate?

To live in a world powered by greed

O, how I wish to see more of thee!

Rescue me from thy sickly subjects,

And heal those whom this affects.

Will we ever be as we were before?

Or must I perish among what I abhor?

How could such a small being pain me so?

Thy wisdom, my Lord, would only know.

Curled up in my sable estate,

All I may do is hope and wait

For such plague to burden me no longer.

Dost I pray to ne'er stay somber.
