"(Y/n), you just swam a sub minute 100!" Kou screamed!
2nd...
"You looked so good out there!" Nagisa yelled.
I didn't qualify...
"That's my girl!" Tosh hugged me.
I'm the only one that didn't qualify.
"Are you okay?" Tosh asked.
I thought I was good...
Yeah I just started but i've been swimming for fun my entire life.
Everything blurred a little as it sunk in.
I didn't want to be dramatic though.
"Yes! I did my best and got second I was so close." I said probably not convincing anyone.
After it ended we got on the bus. I stared at the floor. I could tell Makoto was starring at me, but I tried to pretend I didn't see.
I got off the bus and started walking home. I looked down at my phone to text my parents when I ran into someone.
'Makoto?' I thought.
I looked up. It was an old man just trying to get home after a long day of work.
"You should watch we're you're going." He scoffed.
"Sorry"
Then i saw the ocean and looked at the spot me and Makoto used to sit and talk at for hours.
I sat down and looked at the sun setting.
I miss him.
Why was I so dumb.
All I think about is him. Who am I kidding. The only person I want, the only person I want to sit beside me and say it's okay is him.
And I messed it all up. All i had to do was reach out like I wish he would do for me.
Then i felt pressure against my back and fell forward into the water.
Cold water rushes my face.
Maybe I just deserve this. I fucked up so bad without a reset button.
Then I heard another loud crash. Then i felt someone pull me and through me onto the side.
"I'm so sorry." He yelled.
"I'm sorry!"
I opened my eyes.
"Makoto?"
"I'm sorry..." he started crying.
"I just; it hurt-"
I pulled him in and kissed him.
"I'm sorry.. I fucked up so bad." I said trying to not cough up water.
"Here i'll take you home you're gonna freeze," he said panicked.
He picked me up and I started coughing up water.
"Shit are you okay?"
I laughed.
"What??" He said in the same panicked tone.
"I just haven't heard you cuss ever. I guess i'm just worth cussing over."
"I..." He said flustered.
"It's okay you pushed me." I said softly.
"I would have done the same thing, I needed a reset. In fact on back there I was actually thinking about how I might actually love you..." I trailed.
"(Y/n)..."
"I love you too."
I held on tight to him.
"You know you did amazing out there. You cut almost a minute off in like a couple of months that's unheard of. I know you're upset and you wanted to make it to nationals but it's okay."
"It's okay." The words I wanted to hear so badly.
I fell asleep at his house that night.

"WERE GOING TO NATIONALS" Me and Kou scream.
We looked at the pool. I wasn't even swimming and I was still intimidated.
I huddled everyone up.
"Rei, you're gonna swim the best butterfly ever."
"Obviously." He pushed up his glasses.
"Nagisa, you're gonna be the best breaststroker the worlds ever seen."
"Thank you, (y/n)!" He said hugging me.
"Haru, be one with the water or something like that."
He nodded.
"And makoto you got this." I hugged him and give him a kiss for good luck.
There last time swimming together, before they graduate and i'm with Makoto.
'God i'm lucky.'
