The rest of the day, Narita's thoughts had been filled with theories and assumptions. No way could this be a coincidence right? I mean why would the cat even get close to someone like him?

"Hey, have you even been listening?" a voice snapped him out of his thoughts.

"Oh sorry, I guess my mind is just occupied" Narita apologized to Tanaka.

"It's fine, hey, how about you come over for dinner. Chikara makes the best food!"

"Uhh I'm fine, thank you, I'm kind of tired. Maybe next time?"

Narita couldn't help but feel bad, his second day in this new town and he was already turning down a meal, of course, there was a reason. For some reason he just had this strange feeling nagging at the back of his brain, telling him to go home as soon as he could.

Waving goodbye as his co-worker walked into his house, the olive-eyed male took a moment to look around at the surrounding scenery. It was a calm day with the sun setting just above the horizon, giving everything a homely glow.

Continuing his short journey home, Narita basked in the light, letting it warm every inch of him. This paradise only lasted for a few minutes as the bald male finally reached his destination. The double-storied, oak house stood tall overhead as stars dimly shone in the new night sky.

A small meow broke Narita out of his trance. Turning to his head, his eyes focused on the same dirty blonde Persian cat from this morning, the red ribbon around his neck still shone vibrantly.

"Oh, you're still here huh?"

If felt stupid, talking to a stray cat. What sort of crazy person would do that? Narita apparently.

The two creatures stood frozen in time for what seemed like an eternity, their black and olive eyes dancing around each other.

Breaking the moment, the bald male couldn't help but take a few steps forward in the feline's direction, slowly, making small steps so as not to scare the cat.

His hand seemed to move on its own as Narita raised his hand as if waiting for something to grab hold of it. Time seemed to stop as the feline and the human, froze, awaiting the next move.

Just as Narita took one last step forward, the dusty blonde cat skittered back, the sudden movements of the human scaring it back to a safe distance. Accepting his fate, the olive-eyed male softly smiled as he turned on his heel, a warm feeling bubbling inside him.

As the satisfying sound of the door unlocking broke the comfortable silence, another soft meow came from behind the human while he opened the door.

"You want to come in?"

The seemingly nodded a yes as it pranced inside, making itself at home in the new home. Playing along with the feline's antics, Narita slowly grabbed a bowl and a plate, pouring pristine water into the bowl and cutting thin slices of ham to place on the plate.

"Hmm, I should give you a name..." the human said to himself as he placed the ham and water on the ground.

The olive eyes scanned over the furry body of the feline as an important question ran through his mind.

"What should I call you~"

Enveloped in the ham and water, the cat didn't even shoot a second glance at the human who was now deep in thought.

"Hmmm, Aki?" he spoke to himself.

"Aki~" he repeated.

"Hmm, that sounds good"

Satisfied with the cats new name, Narita went walked back to the kitchen with a small smile on his face.
