eight

the next morning 

Mattia and I walk out to the living room to see everyone eating cereal at the kitchen table. 

"Morning!" Tate and Mark say with their mouths full. 

"Morning." I say in response and take a seat next to Kairi. I look to see Alejandro and Kairi giving each other a glance and Kairi trying to hold in his laughter. Ale just glares at him and shakes his head, his mouth slowly turning into a smile. The rest of us look at one another confused as the two boys try no to spit out their breakfast.

"What's so funny?" Mattia asks as he takes a seat next to me, putting bowls of cereal in front of him and I. Ale and Kairi don't even try to hold it in anymore and start laughing hysterically. Kairi starts to calm down and takes a few deep breaths before he tries to speak.

"So...what happened last night?" Kairi cracks up. I look at them confused but I soon realize what they're talking about and I snap my head at Mattia, his face turning red with embarrassment. He covers his face with his hands and silently laughs to himself. I cover my mouth in shock and turn to the laughing boys who are pointing at our faces, laughing even harder. I can't stop myself from laughing, I cannot believe they heard us. 

"Am I missing something?" Tate has never looked more confused. 

" You mean this?" Ale pulls his chair to the wall and starts banging it against it, "Fuck Bibi *thump* thump* uhhuhh!" Kairi falls to the floor in laughter as Ale playfully scoffs and sits back down. Tate slaps her hand over her mouth as her eyes widen and Mark lets out a laugh.

"Friends with benefits type shit huh?" Ale says smiling.

"You're so dead." Mattia gets up and walks towards Ale and Kairi. They both scream as they're chased around the house, making the rest of us laugh. 

"You've got to be kidding." Alejandro scoffs, reading the papers in the file.

"What?" I stand behind him in the desk chair, reading the paper in his hand. It said that the cure they used on the test subject is stored in a case to keep it at a certain temperature... inside the laboratory. "You're telling me we have to sneak in there again?"

"I mean it says what it's made of but I can't even pronounce the names of this shit." He puts the paper back in the file, letting out a sigh. I pace back in forth trying to think of something we can do. I really don't want to go back there. They probably have more security guards walking around after what we did, which doesn't help whatsoever. We really need this virus out of Mattia and I don't think we have much of a choice. Ale turns in the desk chair to face me, resting his elbows on his knees. "I got nothing," he says standing up.

"Me neither. It's gonna be a lot harder to get in there though without getting caught." I say not knowing what else to do.

"They're definitely on our asses now." Ale looks over to the door, making me turn my attention behind me. Tate peeks her head in, giving us a scared look.

"You guys might wanna come look at the news again." She says leaving. Ale and I exchange nervous glances and follow Tate to the living room. Right as Alejandro and I sit down, a picture of Mattia and I in the lab pops up on the tv screen. You have got to be kidding.

"This just in, a break in at the J. Williams Sciences Laboratory was reported last night and was partially captured on film. The footage shows the two trespassers running from security, both of them remaining identifiable. A file was also reported to have gone missing the night of the break in, however, there were no signs of damage. Here is one of the technicians ready to speak on this event now." The screen cute to the lady that caught us while we were looking for the file.
