Chapter 3: the maze pt. 2

*y/n POV*
After what had felt like forever, we finally made it back to the glade. I leaned over and put my hands on my knees as I caught my breath, breathing so hard I was probably almost hyperventilating.
"Uh y/n? You good?" Minho asked patting me on the back.
"Uh y-yeah I'm...I'm f-fine I just...just gimme a minute."
"Alright we'll I'm gonna go to the map room."
"Ok I'll meet you in there in a minute."

After that Minho left, and I had finally regained a steady breathing pattern, then Newt came up to me.

"Hey love, I haven't seen you all day. How's it going."
"Oh hi Newt!" I said as I reached up to hug him.
"Yea sorry I woke up late and I didn't have time to talk this morning. But my run went pretty well today. How was your day?"
"It was good overall. Had a couple shanks get in a fight earlier. Something about someone stealing someone's food? I don't know but they both got a night in the slammer."
"Oh sounds like a stupid argument to get into, but I kinda understand." I said giggling.
"Well I gotta go map my section. I'll see you at dinner though?"
"Yea see you later."
I made my way to the map room to meet Minho and map my section like I do everyday.
After we finished mapping, we just started talking.

"There's supposed to be a new greenie here tomorrow right?"
"Yea I think so. Hey maybe this time Alby won't scare him off." I said while rolling my eyes. Minho just chuckled.
"He's just trying to look out for you ya know."
"I know but it's just so annoying sometimes. I wish he'd just get off my back and let me live my life." I said plopping down in a chair.
"Yea I get what you mean."
"I mean I guess I could just talk to the greenie when he's not around. Me and you sneak out all the time and he doesn't notice."
"I'm pretty sure he does notice he just doesn't care because he trusts me."
"Ok so then we just gotta get him to trust the greenie and then me and him can be friends problem solved." I said happily as I stood up.
"Ok...but how do you even know you and the greenie are gonna get along? I mean he's not even here yet. He could end up being a complete jerk." Minho offered.
"Well can't be any worse than Gally." You replied while shrugging your shoulders as you walked out of the map room and to the homestead for dinner.
"And also, I don't know...I got a feeling about this one."
"A 'feeling'? The shuck is that supposed to mean?" He said confused.
"It means that I just feel like we're gonna get along. I don't know how I just do."
"Umm ok I guess. But why do you need him as a friend so bad? You have me." he replied while motioning to himself while slightly pouting.

"Aww don't be jealous Minho, no ones gonna replace you." I said wrapping my arms around his torso, pulling him into a hug. "I love you." I smiled looking up at him.
"Yeah yeah I love you too." he grinned.

"Hey! Are you two gonna kiss already or what?" Someone yelled out causing other gladers to laugh. For some reason, I felt butterflies for a split second but I didn't pay any attention to them.

"Shut up slint head!" I yelled back rolling my eyes as I went to get my food. Minho just followed behind me laughing at my anger. I grabbed a plate of the dinner frypan made and sat at a table with newt on my right, and Minho on my left. We talked for a few minutes until Alby walked in and sat down across from us. He greeted Minho and I as he had already seen newt earlier, but not us.
"Hey Minho, Y/n."
"Hey Alby." Minho said.
"Hi" I replied as well.
"So...see any clues today in the maze? Anything you think could help us?" Alby asked.
"Nope. Same thing we always see: walls dirt and more walls." I replied while I pushed my plate away from me and rested my head in my hands.
"I'm sure you guys will find a way out eventually."
"I hope so" Minho replied.

After about an hour Alby told everyone it was time to go to bed.
"Well bye guys I guess I'll see you in the morning." I said to Newt and Minho as I gave them both a hug.
"Yeah unless you oversleep again." Newt replied.
"Yeah don't be late again y/n because the greenie is coming tomorrow which means there's a bonfire and I really don't wanna miss it." Minho said.
"Alright alright I'll get up on time." I sighed. I said one last goodbye as I opened the door to my room but before I closed it I heard Alby.
"Goodnight y/n"
"Night Alby." And with that, I shut my door, hopped into bed and fell into a peaceful sleep.
