JAYLENE ROSEWOOD was a catastrophic time bomb built from the ruins of her troublesome adolescence.

Logically speaking, it was only a matter of unpredictable seconds, minutes, days, years, until she finally combusted, destroying everything in her path to the point where it would never be restored to its original state. It was almost as if that was her sole purpose on earth; to obliterate the tranquility that those she cared about possessed. And she'd accepted this deep level of misfortune that had been trailing behind her since the day she was born, except she wasn't the only one tangled in this web of chaos anymore because somehow, along the way, she'd strung people along with her without meaning to.

Now, she finds herself struggling, wanting nothing more than to convert into the troubled version of herself from the past; the temptation to drive herself into oblivion eating recklessly at her brain.

After having spent her summer back from rehab involved in what turned out to be a disastrous hunt for the Royal merchant gold—and the cherry on top being a shocking revelation made by her grandparents about her mother who was said to have died approximately twelve years ago—she's now on the run alongside her fugitive boyfriend in a foreign country. With a bounty of $50,000 pinned on John B's head, the two teenagers find themselves scurrying through the capital of the Bahamas, unable to remain hidden for long until Jaylene is forced to confront family-related problems that may just send her spiraling downwards before she can make it back home.

Having believed that her mother had been dead for the past twelve years only to discover that she's been alive the entire time and has been just the length of a ferry ride away ignites something inside of Jaylene that's incapable of being put out like an average fire. Not only does she have to ensure that she doesn't get her head blown off by three residents of the Bahamas that are hellbent on capturing John B to turn him in to receive the reward that's being offered but she also has to remain sober throughout this arduous adventure that life unexpectedly decides to hurl at her out of pure spite.
