Once upon a time

In a lonely dream

“Pardon me good sir,”

A boy once said to a magic tree,

“But do you happen to know the time?

I must get home immediately,

And it’s getting awfully late,”

Said the boy to the magic tree.

The tree remained silent

As trees often do

And after a while he told the boy,

“I cannot tell you. “

The tree told the boy,

“My branches don’t reach

High enough for me

To tell the time to you.”

The boy scratched his head

And pondered for a while

Then talked to the tree

Once more with a smile,

“Even if your branches reached

To the top of the sky and back,

You still wouldn’t be able to tell me

The time.” While the sky was turning black.

With that he left the magic tree

Stretching his branches up

Trying so hard to twist himself

He left the tree standing there

To try to see what the sky was like

And with a mighty crack

The tree fell over and saw the sky

And the sky was looking back.
