"Hey, Ashy,"
"Hi, Lukey,"
"You ready for our ice cream date?"
"D- date?"
"I- I... I'm sorry but it's just... I know it's barely a day and we agreed that we'll leave everything behind but I can't okay? I'm sorry but I love you too much to just brush it off. I could see that you're just as uncomfy as I am so don't bother to lie to me and can we please just continue this? It's torturing the both of us to pretend that nothing ever happened so why are we doing it?"
"Luke, I-I... I don't know... Michael's my best friend and Calum's yours and also my boyfriend... I- I want to but I... I couldn't..." He could sense me panicking, before slowly bringing his arms to my shoulder.
"Hey, hey, d'ya remember what Anne said? Do whatever your heart desire, just follow your heart. So tell me, Ash... what does it tell you to do,"
"... I want you b- but the guilt a-and what are we gonna tell them? It's like breaking the bro-codes. L-Luke, I can't betray them like that, I-I..."
"I never said anything about telling them," Luke said, a mischief smirk dancing on his lips.
"A-Are you saying what I think you were saying?"
"Yes, baby. We're doing it behind their back,"
"B-But what if they find out?"
"Remember what I said about the 'what if's? Don't, okay? What matter is, do you want this or do you not?"
"I-I do want this, Luke. You know that I want this just as much as you do,"
"Then, it's a deal; you're my boyfriend again,"
"And you're mine,"
"And I'm yours," He smiled tenderly at me, softly caressing my cheek with his thumb.
"But Mike and Cal?"
"Let's just say they're our beard, yeah? I mean, I love you, not Mike and as far as I know, you love me and not Calum or did I catch it wrong?"
"No, you're right," I smiled up at him and leant up to peck his lips when seeing no one around us. He instantly beamed at the affection, all pain disappearing from his pretty blue eyes.
"Sooo, the date?"
"Let's get going, you dork," I grabbed his hand in mine and dragged him towards the parking lot.
"We'll meet at that parlour near my house, yeah?"
"Okay, I'll see you there," I blew him a kiss before slipping into my car. I could see a smile blooming in my face and for the first time today, I feel great. I knew that I have nothing to fake when I'm with Luke and he just proved that again.
I drove my car just a few metres behind Luke's but slipped onto his side when we were on a red light. He opened his window down and wave awkwardly causing me to giggle at how dorky he was. I playfully blew him a kiss and he did that dramatic "catch it and put it into heart" thingy and I couldn't help but laugh out loud.
The light turned green and we both speed up again until we reached our destination; Creamy Ice.
I parked my car near the tree and killed the engine as soon as it settled. I got out from the car and Luke followed suit, instantly draping his arm on the small part of my back and guided me into the parlour.
"Welcome to Creamy Ice! It's Monday and we got a discount for a couple, would you like that?"
"What's this discount?" I asked the boy.
"You got a free scoop every time you bought the triple scoop and it's applied to all variant,"
"Can we mix up the flavour?" Luke asked.
"Yeah, of course,"
"Alright so uh... a scoop of cookies 'n cream, a scoop of tiramisu, and a scoop of cookie dough," Luke said, smiling softly at the boy.
"Can we get bubble gum for the free scoop?"
"Of course, that'll be £4.50,"
"Do you wanna pay or it's on me?" Luke turned to me as soon as he said the price.
"Split it?"
"Alright,"
We gave the boy our money along with a little tip and then he left us to scoop the ice. I watched him doing his job until a pair of wet lips suddenly met my temple.
I looked up to see a smiling Luke and I can't help but smile as well.
"Love you,"
"Love you more, Ashy"
"Here's your ice cream, thank you for coming," I took the ice cream, smiling widely at the boy as a thank you.
"Outside or inside?" Luke asked.
"Can we go outside?"
"Sure," We walked back outta the parlour and took a seat at the bench near our cars.
"Sooo..."
"So?"
"How are you coping with this hella amazing Monday?" Luke asked, sarcasm dripping from his voice. I giggled at that before shrugging my shoulder.
"Um... okay, I guess. Could've been better but eh, it's good now so I'm not protesting. What about you?"
"I despise it at first but now I'm good,"
"Is it because of me?" I teased him jokingly.
"Eh, dunno, maybe," He shrugged his shoulder in faux innocent, causing me to elbow his side playfully.
"Asshole,"
"You are what you eat, darling. I've told you that,"
"Mum taking us to dinner tonight, you wanna come along?"
"You sure?"
"Well, duh, if I don't, I wouldn't ask,"
"Woah, woah, tone done the attitude, babe"
"I'm not giving you an attitude, I'm just spitting the truth,"
"Sure, whatever. But I guess I'll tag along, mum got night shift and brothers aren't home sooo..."
"Good, I would've cried if you decline,"
"Aweee, miss me that much?" I sighed at him but nodded my head sadly.
"It's just so tiring, you know... pretending to love someone you don't love anymore but can't do much because you're walking on thin ice," He smiled sadly at my words, hands coming up to grabbed mine in his,
"I know, I feel you, love. I don't know about you but mine and Calum's friendship also feel awkward suddenly. It was like he was hiding something from me. I could tell when he does since I knew him like the back of my hand,"
"It was merely a month but seems like lots of things changed, eh?"
"Hm, seems like it. But at least I don't feel as guilty then,"
"About what?"
"This, us dating I mean. They hid things from us, even though they act like they're not I think we both know that they do,"
"You feel guilty too?" I asked, clearly not expecting it since Luke was the one that initiated us to be together again.
"At first yeah, but now? Not the slightest."
"Oh..."
"Do you?"
"Do I what?" I asked him confusedly.
"Feeling guilty,"
"A tad bit, I guess. But you're right, they're hiding something from us and I believe two can play at this game."
