The Sacrifice

Masquerade - 1

"Easy. Grab the door Jer." Matt says as we both help Jenna inside.

After the "incident," Jenna is finally home. With a few stitches which means she will have to rest but other then that she should be fine.

"Hey, stop fussing, I'm fine." Jenna complains.

"The doctors said that you have to take it easy." I told her as we walked to the couch.

Jeremy nods in agreement "Yeah, you don't want to rip your stitches, hemorrhage and die, alright?"

"Yeah, the only thing I'm gonna die from is embarrassment."

Matt shakes his head softly  "No."

She looked up at him with an incredulous look. "I walked into a knife. How does somebody do that?"

I keep my face nonchalantly as possible to keep from revealing anything.

"It was a freak accident."

"It happens." Elena and Jeremy said trying to make her feel better.

"Yeah, I mean I've done it like twenty times at the Grill." Matt jokes.
Jenna laughs, then winces in pain.

"Okay, I'm being nice."

"Careful." I mutter as we help her down on the couch. "Easy, easy."

"What should I do with this?" Matt asks holding up the bag of food.

"I got it." Elena says taking it from him and going into the kitchen.

Jenna smiled at me and took my hand. "You know Ariel? I'm glad your sticking around, it's been great having you around"

I smiled at her, "Well you are my family. Even if you are as clumsy as an oaf" I joke lightly.

Jenna smiles back and gives my hand a small slap for that.

"I'll be back." Jeremy calls out from the kitchen as he leaves.

I stayed over for about 30 minutes when my phone buzzed.

I grab it and see I have a message from Damon.

Damon:
Boarding house now

"Hey I got to go" I say as I get up. Elena frowns at me

"Where are you going?"

"Caroline needs help picking out a dress for tonight" I lie.

Elena nods, "Well are you going to the masquerade ball?"

I nod as I grab my bag. "I'll be back tonight hopefully in time for movie night. See you later"

I don't waste anytime and leave before they can ask more questions.

Bonnie arrived at the same time I did, grimoire in hand.

"Do you know what's going on?" Bonnie asked as I knocked on the door.

I shook my head, "I have no idea"

Caroline opens the front door and smiles at us. "Hey, come on in." Caroline says, opening the door.

Bonnie makes her way inside with the grimoire. "We got Stefan's message." I say as we walk to the parlor.

Stefan looks up at the sound of my voice, "Hey, you brought the grimoire, thank you."

Bonnie and I look to see Damon and Alaric talking and a lot a weapons on the table.

Bonnie and I frown in confusion. "What's going on?" She asks.

Jeremy arrives with more weapons and answers for Stefan.

"We're gonna kill Katherine." Jermey explains briefly.

I frown and look at Stefan. "I can explain." He says noticing the look of confusion.

"Please." I plead.

Stefan falters. "We're gonna kill Katherine." Well that's not much.

We walk to the, I guess weapons table, and watch as Alaric explains what each and every weapon does.

"This works with compressed air. The trigger mechanism is up here. I have two of these in a different size." Alaric explains with a crossbow.

"For you I recommend this. It fits nicely under the jacket sleeve. You use the trigger when you're ready." He puts a sleeve on his arm that has three stakes and a trigger mechanism.

Damon and Stefan look at each other with unease when he faked killing a vampire and so does Caroline.

"You wanted me to show you how to kill a vampire." Alaric says in defense when he sees the looks.

After two hours, of planning, weapons training and such we assembled in the parlor to go over it again.

"Are you sure you guys don't want me there tonight?" Alaric asks.

"No, I need you to stay with Elena. I don't want her to know about this." Stefan assures him.

Alaric nods. "Okay. Well, I'll make sure she doesn't leave my sight."

Stefan looks over at all of us. "Alright, if anybody wants to back out, I'll understand."

"Yeah. Cold feet speak now. I don't want this going wrong if someone chicken's out. Caroline." Damon comments looking at her.

Caroline sneers at him. "I won't. Look, she killed me. Fair's fair. As long as there's no werewolf running around."

Damon smirks. "Oh, I took care of Mason."

And by took care he means killed.

Jeremy looks at her. "As long as Tyler doesn't kill anyone, he won't turn." I nod at this.

Damon looks over at me with a raised eyebrow, "Ariel"

I shake my head, "She almost killed Jenna, as long as she's alive she's a threat to everyone" They all nod in agreement.

Stefan looks at Bonnie who looks sick to her stomach.

"Bonnie? Are you with us?" We all looked at her waiting for an answer. "But no one gets hurt."

"Except Katherine" Damon said.

"Tonight Katherine gets a stake through her heart."
