in this book quirks don't exist however they are referred to as dark magic and they are much less common, meaning that most of the characters won't have them, but they still exist. this also means that they are much harder to use and easier to lose control over. (foreshadowing?)
this also has some themes from the movie tangled. what can I say? I love disney.
