"The Worst Christmas Ever"

(GORE WARNING)

It was December 24th, and a small family of 4  were all sleeping in bed, awaiting to wake up on Christmas Day.

The eldest sibling, an 11 year old boy named Carter, was beginning to drift into sleep, until he heard several thuds echoing around the house...but since it wasn't that late yet, he dismissed it as his parents just walking through the hallway.
He finally fell asleep, dreaming of the times he would have with his family, eating dinner and opening presents by the fire..

It was now morning.. and surprisingly quiet for the time...his sister wasn't jumping on him, he couldn't hear his parents in the kitchen making breakfast, nothing. It struck him as odd, but he shrugged it off anyway.

He jumped out of bed, and ran up to his door;
It was locked? He didn't remember locking it.. but he unlocked it without thought, and quickly walked into the hallway.

Immediately something felt wrong.
Carter paused; looking around, from the ceiling down onto the floor; the floor.
Was it supposed to be red?
No. It wasn't.
He realized. He looked over to his little sisters bedroom door, and the red color was coming out from under the crack.
'No.....NO! EMMA!' He screamed in his thought, running towards her door, ignoring the red liquid, which his brain now identified as blood.
He pushed the door open...and there was Emma. His little sister, dead. On the floor. Her throat had been slit, dry blood pooled under her, leading out the door.

She had been killed.

He mourned and cried over her dead body for what felt like hours, which in reality must've been only 20 minutes.
Until he remembered...
his parents.

He got up and raced into his parents room, finding them, also dead, with their throats slit, blood soaking the mattress.

He finally found the knack to call the police, and when they arrived ten minutes later, they stated that last night a man dressed like Santa Claus broke into several houses; including Carter's, and killed several families.

What startled him most is that the only reason he survived was because he involuntary locked his bedroom door that night.
