Jungkook is sad, Taehyung can see it clearly. Even if the younger man always tries to hide it, the two have been together long enough for Taehyung to notice when something isn't alright.

Jungkook always feels the need to protect his older boyfriend, to always be there for him and act tough. Taehyung knows it is because he had a very toxic relationship before he got together with Jungkook. And after the younger got to know about it, he made sure to take care of his boyfriend, to always be there for him.

Taehyung often told him that he doesn't need to do this, that he can also show his emotions openly but Jungkook always had a problem with opening up completely, even to Taehyung.

It got better over the years, the younger realized that it's better not to hide his feelings but talk about them. But this doesn't mean he shares them openly.

He's still the kind of person to keep everything to himself until it gets too hard for him to bare with it by himself. These are the times where Jungkook breaks down completely, crying for hours in Taehyung's arms, pouring out his heart and everything he's bottled up.

And these are the moments Taehyung hates the most. He hates to see his boyfriend cry and to see how much he's dealing with by himself. He wants Jungkook to know that he can always come to him, that he's there for him.

Jungkook shouldn't hesitate to tell him about his fears.

And that's why Taehyung is pretty restless, seeing that something clearly bothers his boyfriend, causing him to be sad.

And Taehyung wants to avoid having the other deal with whatever it is by himself. Jungkook should be happy, not sad, it's Christmas after all. Jungkook's totally the Christmas person.

He loves to wear ugly sweaters, going to the city just to see the lights, watching old movies and spending nights together, watching old Christmas movies.

So it is weird for Taehyung to see the younger being so spiritless this year. He didn't decorate their house with the same enthusiasm he usually does every year. Yeah sure, it's gonna be a weird Christmas as they can't meet up with anyone due to the pandemic but they still have each other.

And it's still Christmas. The celebration of love and harmony. There's no space for sadness.

So when Jungkook comes home today, Taehyung asks him to come into their shared bedroom. Jungkook immediately complies, waddling to the said room his boyfriend is in. Taehyung motions the younger to sit down next to him on their bed.

Taehyung smiles, caressing the younger's cheek until he gives him a short peck. "Hey. I missed you." Taehyung mumbles, his finger running through his boyfriend's long hair. It's long enough to make a bun and Taehyung absolutely loves it. "Missed you too." Jungkook says back, holding his voice down as well in order not to ruin the peaceful moment, placing a longing kiss on his boyfriend's forehead.

"I need to talk to you." Taehyung starts, Jungkook raising an eyebrow but motioning his boyfriend to go on. "I just wanted to know what's up with you. I can see that there's something bothering you. I want you to be happy, baby, you can always talk to me. I can see that there's something wrong and it hurts to see you like this." Taehyung speaks, as carefully as he can as he knows that it's quite a sensitive topic for the younger.

Jungkook didn't expect the other to ask this at all, so he's left speechless. Though, he should have known that Taehyung would ask him about this as the older male is very observing and notices immediately when something is wrong.

He really doesn't like to lie to the other about this and Jungkook is aware that it would make him feel better if he would talk to his boyfriend. Taehyung is the last person to judge him, he knows that. It's just hard to talk about his feelings.
