Papers from the calendar rustled to the floor, and with them, seasons had changed, leaving behind only woeful memories from the past. It had been a couple of months since the Encanto's dreadful downfall, though followed by a miraculous recovery. Outsiders had gained knowledge about the joyous town, and been constantly visiting from time to time. A 15 year-old girl who lives a shallow, and dark life, and a boy who lives in a kaleidoscopic and intoxicating delight met; slowly, they unraveled things beyond the agonizing retribution and soul-crushing legacy. The 'wealthy' family had sternly decided to leave the Philippines and move to Colombia. The family's matriarch, whom the Madrigal's matriarch's acquaintance, will finally meet again after a long period of time. This story is a magical realism that takes place in the early 1950s, with a sense of the author's personal experiences.

Elena Madrigal daughter of Pepa and Felix Madrigal, twin to Camilo younger sister of Dolores and older sister of Antonio Madrigal. When she revived her gift of ice and snow she was able to control it easily but as time goes on with the casita crumbling, the candle going out and the gifts being lost, her control weakens.

"Mi Carámbano" is an Elsa x Isabela Madrigal fic taking place during the events of the first 'Frozen' movie & one year before 'Encanto'. -------- Isabela Madrigal was blooming flowers for the town when & an odd wind pattern picked up her flowers. She became distracted by it & followed. Isa's youngest sister, Mirabel, had also seen the patterns. Their abuela witnessed Isa pushing off chores to 'dilly-dally' with her sister & now angrily trailed after them. A few strange magical moments later- Isabela, Mirabel, & their abuela were pulled to a land foreign to them. Flags of indigo & emerald waved high & mutterings of coronation ran thick. Officials flooded the docks, gates opened, & the festivities didn't end. Excitement was so heavy that none noticed three faces being dropped off by a... water horse? Though bells rang & people cheered, Elsa was petrified. Her social life had been sorely limited for the past thirteen years, & today it all changed. She refused to let her people, & her sister, down. She rehearsed time & time again, but couldn't restrain the ice. What if they all saw? What if she's not ready? What if Isabela & Elsa meet, learning all the things they have in common? As well as the importance of "love" in its purest form: Family. By blood, or not, both can heal frozen hearts. I don't own the characters or any of Disney's work in this story. Hence why it's called fan-FICTION. I'm also not glossing over or replacing any themes in Frozen or Encanto. I'm doing my best to still highlight those separate stories as well as aspects of Isa's heritage, and a story of wlw love. I'm not Latine or Indigenous so I'm very open to corrections & suggestions so call me out if I mess up anything at all. <3

I had the idea for this fic a long time ago, when Camilo's spanish VA covered "Waiting on a Miracle" on Tik Tok. After that, several ideas came up on Tumblr, Tik Tok and even Twitter, of what an AU would be like where Mirabel had gotten a gift and Camilo was the "giftless one". I got my own too. And after thinking about it a lot, I said, why not? I think is cool all the possibilities that could be presented and I adore the idea of Mirabel being Camilo's emotional support through all of this. - To clarify, this is a rewrite of the movie but with Mirabel having a gift and Camilo not. That's why some parts and phrases will sound like in the movie. - I try to make all the characters as they are, but it's difficult for me. So if I'm wrong or I made out of character moments, I apologize. - I have made the characters warmer than in the movie. Because after all, they are family, and Mirabel will do anything to be close to those she cares about. - English is not my first language, so I apologize if something is wrong. - Chapters are long.
