Matter at Hand: the White House's actions in Venezuela - were they right or wrong?
Action/Result: The United States military captured and deposed Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Saturday, January 3, 2026, killing at least 75 people in the process. Prior to Maduro's forced extradition, the U.S. destroyed numerous vessels allegedly carrying drugs, killing at least 95 people, none of whom received a fair trial, were convicted, or were sentenced. As of the writing of this article, Maduro and his wife are being held in the New York Metropolitan Detention Center. Plans are in process for American companies to assume control of Venezuela's oil industry, and for a U.S.-controlled ruling body to govern the country.
