Levi stood against the brick wall outside of Sierra finishing his second cigarette. He had been here plenty over the years, but this was the first time in over a decade that he was here single. It seemed strange to him...disconnected almost...that he wasn't just taking a cigarette break while he waited for Sairam to weave out of the bar and pull him back inside.
Levi grit his teeth and spat on the sidewalk. He didn't want to think about his cute, sparkly, cheating shithead of an ex husband. He didn't have to do mental aerobics to imagine Sairam with his new boyfriend Mike...the three of them had hung out so often during his marriage he was honestly shocked he hadn't discovered them earlier. He could even pinpoint when it happened, years before it was all out in the open. When his husband stopped complaining about his long hours at the salon…
What made it worse is that he knew, genuinely, that it wasn't just fucking. He probably would have taken it better if it had been just a physical connection...maybe found a way to forgive...but Sairam and Mike were in love. His husband had insisted he loved him too and didn't want to break up...and maybe Levi would have considered an open relationship if he hadn't already been betrayed...but for him his marriage was out with the trash along with his trust.
That was eight months ago. Sairam was long gone, trading the domestic life he had built with Levi to travel with Mike to wherever he would be posted next. They had sold their apartment, divided their assets and said goodbye across some lawyer's faux oak conference table. Levi's financial situation was better now than it had been before, but it certainly didn't feel like it. He had traded a two bedroom apartment in a nice part of town for a shitty walk up rental near the salon and now, at 41, had to start dating all over again if he didn't want to die alone.
He cursed under his breath and flicked some ash off the tip of his cigarette feeling like a failure. He couldn't even successfully find a mindless fuck on a hookup app. Reminded of his purpose, he pulled his phone out and opened said app, scrolling through the pictures on his prospective date's profile. He took a deep drag and flung the spent butt into the gutter. The guy was fucking hot. He knew he was overreaching, but confidence had never been his problem, even if he was a bit rusty.
When you had nothing to lose, you may as well bet the farm.
Eren was tall and lean, not a muscle head like the other personal trainers he had met, but he clearly had an incredible body under the brightly colored clothing he was wearing in all his pictures. It wasn't his body that attracted Levi though, ironically since he was honestly just looking for someone to fuck, but his face. His eyes were almost too large for his face and the most fascinating color blue. Plus, he had an incredible smile that just seemed genuine.
Like he wasn't the kind of guy who would vow to stand beside you forever and then sleep with your friend behind your back.
"Levi?"
