practice after school was not fun. taeyong, being the kind person he is, decided to head over early and buy drinks for both the cheerleading team and the younger members of the football team. he specially picked up the more expensive ones from the shop so he knew that all of the members would like it and he dropped off the one's for his team before heading over to greet the footballers.
"taeyong hyung!" chenle greeted him excitedly.
"hi lele!" taeyong beamed, "i've bought you all some drinks, i thought you could probably use them because it's so hot today!"
"ah thank you hyung, you're the best, this is why you're my favourite," jeno grinned as he took a drink from taeyong's hand and the older boy just ruffled his hair affectionately.
"thanks jeno," he smiled but the cute moment didn't last long before the team captain arrived.
"taeyong, can i speak to you a second," jaehyun asked rather kindly but taeyong knew better than to fall for his act that he obviously out on to look good in front of the team.
"why are you over here looking after my team members? i'm the captain don't you have your own team to look after?" the taller boy started when they had walked away a little to talk privately.
"it's really hot so i thought they might be able to use some drinks," taeyong spoke innocently, "it's really bad to be dehydrated when you're training especially in this weather."
jaehyun sighed for a moment, "i know that, but i've been trying to get them to be more responsible and bring their own drinks to practice, we're not going to be here to supply for them forever."
"yeah but they obviously didn't have any today so they would've really struggled."
"i know and that's why i have back ups in the car, i just wanted them to realise what it would be like if i didn't provide for them okay? we leave next year so they need to learn how to look after themselves," jaehyun finished and taeyong just rolled his eyes. another act of kindness that jaehyun had scolded him for, he was hardly surprised at this point. the shorter boy just huffed and walked away and jaehyun watched his back as he went.
"why do you argue with him all the time just to look like a kicked puppy when he leaves?" johnny appeared next to the football captain with and amused smirk on his face.
"we've been through this before," jaehyun countered, "you know that i like him and you know that i don't know how to deal with feelings so i'm just mean to him without even thinking."
"you and i both know that that makes no sense," johnny sighed but he slung his arm over jaehyun's shoulder anyway and led him back to where the team where waiting to practice.
when they arrived back, the captain was immediately swarmed with questions and people asking him why he was so mean to taeyong. of course, he simply couldn't give them an answer because even he himself hardly knew. the reason he gave johnny and the reason he had told himself just made completely no sense but it was the truth. he didn't feel like telling that to all the younger members of his football team though.
while jaehyun collected himself, johnny took over the duty of helping the team to warm up. he barely noticed when jaehyun went quiet as he was wrapped up in his thoughts and many ideas (that were certain to fail) of how he could get taeyong to not hate him. he did notice, however, the longing look that jaehyun cast over his shoulder towards the cheerleading team, johnny had to sort out jaehyun's failing love life and fast.
