'doyoung pls save me' came taeyong's text when he and jaehyun were told that they could invite a few friends to come and help them with the banners. it wasn't that the banners the two boys were making were unsatisfactory, in fact, the ones taeyong were making appeared to be almost carbon copies of each other. it was just... it was jaehyun.
the football captain hadn't meant to be so slow. if anything, he was going as fast as he possibly could it was just that with lee taeyong stood only a few metres in front of him, it was all to easy for jaehyun to neglect his work and just stare at taeyong instead.
that was why, when one of the teacher's came to check on their progress he had breathe a deep disappointed sigh and told them that if they ever wanted enough banners they should 'think about getting some friends to help and quickly.'
taeyong had never been happier to hear some words come from a teacher's mouth.
after firing two texts off to doyoung and winwin, taeyong decided to be brave in his new quest. it had now been bugging him for three hours and he still couldn't think of a single plausible reason as to why jaehyun was suddenly being kind to him.
"jaehyun," taeyong spoke to get the other boy's attention.
"yeah?" came the reply from a wide eyed boy across the room.
"who have you asked for help?" taeyong asked him.
"oh, i've just asked johnny and he's bringing the guy he likes," jaehyun spoke before his face turned right red.
"weren't supposed to tell me that were you?" taeyong asked with a vague smirk and jaehyun just shook his head in horror. "don't worry, your secret is safe with me. besides, i like johnny, i wouldn't do that to him."
"oh thank you," jaehyun smiled appreciatively then, "i was scared for a second, anyway, who have you asked? doyoung and winwin?"
"yeah i have," taeyong spoke back however he didn't let the knowledge that jaehyun had noticed who he was friends with slip away.
it wasn't as if it was impossible for jaehyun to find out who taeyong's two best friend's were considering that they were almost constantly joint at the hip. yet, jaehyun had always been quick to tell taeyong that he paid no attention to him at all and taeyong couldn't recall a single time where he had talked to or about either of his friend's in the direct presence of jaehyun so it just didn't make sense.
if he wasn't completely confused before, taeyong was definitely confused now.
at that moment, the door swung open and doyoung and winwin walked in with beaming smiles on their faces.
"taeyong you're a genius," winwin smiled gratefully and doyoung just nodded from behind him.
                              "what do you mean?"
"you got us out of math," doyoung spoke dramatically as he hugged his friend jokingly and then set his eyes towards what was on the table.
"so what are we doing then?"
"it's the banners," jaehyun spoke up from the other side of the room before walking to where doyoung was stood and pushing his way between him and taeyong.
he moved some of taeyong's things to the side carefully before picking up the design sheet they had been given and pointing out the different things to doyoung.
as jaehyun was beginning to explain the different materials doyoung should be backing the banners up with, taeyong managed to catch winwin's eye over his shoulder and the boy wasted no time before trying to convey a message to taeyong.
'he's jealous' winwin mouthed and taeyong just rolled his eyes in return. however, that time he simply couldn't fully brush off winwin's comment. not when jaehyun had purposely walked from his table and all but pushed doyoung away from taeyong. still, they were probably overthinking as it brought taeyong straight back to the thought of, 'that's impossible why would jung jaehyun like me.'
johnny arrived then with a significantly smaller looking boy at his side. jaehyun moved immediately when he saw them and taeyong couldn't help but smile at how excited jaehyun looked to meet the boy his best friend liked.
jaehyun with johnny was so different to the thoughtless boy taeyong had come to know. the boy seemed like a perfect best friend, he was always running to johnny when the other was in need, he was always there to offer advice that no one else ever could. it just didn't make sense how someone that kind could be so cruel to taeyong without reason. sometimes, taeyong even wondered if in another life, he and jaehyun could've been really close. he was, however, snapped from this thought when jaehyun brought johnny and the other boy over to see taeyong's banner as examples.
"look here they are," jaehyun pointed down to taeyong's work, "don't you think they're so good? taeyong said it's nothing because they're just copies but don't you think he's amazing? you have to be so so talented to copy it that perfectly!" jaehyun all but gushed causing taeyong's confusion levels to rise once more.
"i don't think we've met?" the smaller boy asked and taeyong shook his head in agreement causing the boy to hold out his hand to shake, "i'm ten nice to meet you."
"i'm taeyong nice to meet you too," he shook the boy's hand and ten then seemed to focus back on the banner.
"it's really good you know," he spoke, "i'm an art student and i started out by copying things like this, i used to think it meant nothing but then one of my teacher's told me that really most art is copying anyway, like in a portrait you're just copying someone's face, it takes so much skill to make a perfect copy."
"oh, thank you that means a lot," taeyong smiled kindly and ten nodded back.
"if you ever want to try out art some time let me know, they gave me the keys to the studio," ten grinned.
"i might take you up on that," taeyong laughed as he missed the jealous look that jaehyun gave ten. johnny, however, didn't miss his best friend's expression at all.
"anyway, we have a lot of banners to make so let's get to work," johnny interrupted and ten just clapped his hands excitedly.
"yeah let's get to work," jaehyun spoke before walking back to where he was working at the other side of the room.
"he's jealous," winwin whispered in taeyong's ear before they all set to work.
