jaehyun had little to no ideas for what he could say in his letter. whenever taeyong entered his mind, he all but blanked out. johnny wasn't much help either, he just sat beside him scrolling through his phone whilst jaehyun was losing his mind.
"what do i write about?" he asked johnny for what was about the 15th time.
"i have no idea," johnny told him back, "you like him not me."
he was right, jaehyun supposed. it was his mess and it was him who liked taeyong so why would johnny know better than he did what to write in a love letter to him.
"what do you like about him?" johnny asked, "maybe start with that."
this instantly created a spark in jaehyun's mind. "johnny you're a genius," he grinned as he began writing.
dear taeyong,
i like you. you probably get people saying this all the time but i can guarantee that no one feels it as strongly as me.
i like everything about you. your heart is so kind and pure and you're the warmest person i've ever met. your kindness radiates from you and no one is free from its grasp. you're amazing.
as well as this, you're so wildly beautiful. not even the view from the top of mount everest could ever compare to how beautiful you are. you are earth's most beautiful creation.
i like you.
a dumb guy.
jaehyun grinned as he read the letter back. it was cheesy, it was cliché and he really hoped that johnny was right when he said that taeyong was a romantic.
"you've done it?" johnny asked him as he saw his friend holding up an envelope with a cheeky smile on his face.
"yes," jaehyun grinned, "it's only short but i think it says why i like him in enough detail."
"great," johnny said as he clicked his phone screen off, "now we just need to get it in his locker."
"how are we gonna do that with no one seeing us?" jaehyun asked slightly panicked.
"jaehyun, i love you but the question you should be asking is how are you going to do it with no one seeing you," johnny retorted.
"no! you said you'd help me."
"yeah but for this bit, you're on your own."
true to his word, johnny was no help during jaehyun's mission of slipping the letter into taeyong's locker without anyone seeing. they had left for class that morning impossibly early and were all but sneaking through the halls trying to not be seen.
jaehyun clutched the letter tightly in his hand as he peaked around the corner and into the hall where taeyong's locker stood. johnny offered him a thumbs up from the other side and the boy went for it.
he quickly slipped the letter through the gap on the side of taeyong's locker and ran straight in the opposite direction towards the exit.
"i did it!" he screamed gleefully when he and johnny finally made it out.
"wow i'm proud of you," his friend gave him a pat on the back and a huge smile.
"i hope he likes the letter," jaehyun smiled softly as he gazed longingly at the entrance they'd just ran out of. honestly, jaehyun would be glad of the letter regardless of the outcome if it made taeyong happy. taeyong's happiness was paramount to anything else and even though jaehyun acted like an asshole in real life, he just wanted to make taeyong happy in any way he could.
"you know what you need to do now?" johnny asked.
"what's that?"
"stop being an ass to him every time he's within a 5 metre radius of you."
"yeah i'll try that one," jaehyun hummed in agreement.
