He was checking on her, if she's holding up alright after the frenzy of last month and her name being printed on the cover pages of countless tabloids – his words. Taylor called him up, ignoring the frantic beats of her heart. Joe laughed when she feigned nonchalance at the whole situation. She wanted to wrap the sound of his laughter around her like a blanket, keeping her safe. Instead, she raised her eyebrows into the camera. "You think I'm lying?"
He shook his head just a little, his blonde hair catching light. "No. I know you're lying. You look like shit."
It wasn't a compliment by a long shot, but Taylor smiled nonetheless.
