Chapter 3 - The Empress

I sat on a bench while bored out of my mind, with a thick canopy of trees above me keeping me cool.

"Why did I have to forget my phone? I could have at least texted Tatsuya or Daichi to see if either of them was available to hang out with me." I mumbled to myself.

Two Hours Earlier...

As I finished preparing some food for me for lunch and placed it at the table my Mom came in from the other room.

"Y/n could you please take Fumie to the park? She has been asking me to take her all day but I'm busy with work stuff." Mom asked.

As I put my utensils at the table, I looked up at her and said "Sure, just give me some time to eat and get ready then I'll take her over."

"Okay, I'll tell Fumie that you said you'd take her and that she should get ready to go." Mom responded.

I ate my lunch and headed for the door to get my shoes on and headed to the door and called out "I'm done eating Fumie, let's go."

Soon enough, my little sister came down and with a grin said "Come on! Let's go!"

I opened the door and as we began to walk, Fumie wrapped one of her small hands around my wrist because Mom always makes her do it when we're going somewhere.

When we arrived at the park, Fumie saw her friends and ran over to join them and I sat down at a bench nearby so that I could keep an eye out to make sure nothing bad happened. However, that is when I forgot my phone or any source of amusement at home. Accepting my fate to be bored, I rested my head on my fist, with my elbow on my thigh.

I spent my time keeping an eye on her thinking about whatever thought popped into my head, seeing where it went. However, as I sat there I heard a voice behind me say "Y/n?"

I turned around to see Nozomi looking at me "Hey Nozomi, what's up?"

"The weather is great today, so I thought I'd enjoy it with a stroll through the park." Nozomi explained "What about you?"

"My little sister has been wanting to go to the park all day and Mom's busy so I brought her over and have to keep an eye on her." I answered.

"I didn't know you had a little sister." Nozomi remarked.

"She's turning six in a couple of months. I'll be honest, when I was eleven, I wasn't expecting to end up a big brother." I said.

Nozomi then sat besides me on the bench and asked me "Is she your only sibling?"

"Yeah. Besides me, it's just her and my parents." I said. "What about you? Do you have any siblings?"

"Nope, I'm an only child." Nozomi answered

Soon enough, my little sister came up to us and asked "Big Bro, who's this?"

Nozomi then smiled at her and said "I'm one of Y/n's friends from school. You can just call me Nozomi okay?"

Fumie smiled and said "Hello Nozomi, I'm Fumie."

"It's nice to meet you Fumie." Nozomi said.

"Fumie! Aren't you gonna play with us?" One of Fumie's friends called out.

"Go on Fumie, play with your friends for a bit longer." I said before patting her head. She then nodded and ran back off to join them.

"She seems really sweet." Nozomi commented

"Yeah. She's also pretty smart for her age and is always trying to help out where she can." I mention.

Nozomi and I continued to talk until Fumie came up to us and said "Big Bro, I'm tired."

"Then are you ready to head home?" I asked her. She then nodded. I then turned to Nozomi and said "I'd like to walk you home but I got to get Fumie home so how about you come with us back to our house and once Fumie goes into the house I walk you to your place?"

"That sounds good." Nozomi responded. Me and Nozomi got up and with Fumie between us, we began to walk to my house.

Soon enough, we approached the house and Fumie let go of my wrist and headed to the door. She turned around and waved "Bye Nozomi." she said.

Nozomi smiled at her while waving and said "Goodbye Fumie."

Fumie then entered the house and I turned to Nozomi and said "Well then, lead the way."

And so, me and Nozomi continued to walk together, and we eventually reached the door to an apartment.

"Thanks for hanging out with me, it was good to have some company." I said to her as we reached her door.

"It's been nice talking to you." said Nozomi.

"I'll talk to you tomorrow," I said as she opened her door and entered the apartment.

When I returned home, I came in to see Mom and Dad both waiting for me at the door.

"I saw you drop off Fumie at the house then walk somewhere with a girl, is she your girlfriend?" Dad asked excitedly.

"What's her name?" Mom quickly said afterwards.

I blushed and said "It's not like that. Nozomi is just a friend from class. I ran into her at the park and we talked while Fumie was playing and I told her that I'd walk her home after I took Fumie home."

"Sure, sure." Dad said sarcastically, with a smirk on his face.

"I'm serious here." I said.

And thus, the rest of the night was spent trying to make my parents realize that Nozomi was not in fact, my girlfriend.

A/n: The Empress I had so much trouble fitting it's meanings into this so I worked with what I could. The Empress means things such as nature, femininity, and nurturing. The nature meaning can kind of be seen with the park and I tried to show the nurturing part in how the other characters treated Fumie.

The next chapter will be the emperor, which I have also had a bit of trouble finding a way to fit it's meaning into the story but I have an idea for the next chapter's plot that'll turn out pretty long.

Unrelated, but while I usually name my original characters as references to other series I'm reading, watching, or whatever, for Fumie I used the name of a voice actor who voices a little kid in the game I'm playing's japanese dub.
