There were a few rebels
Who bravely slid out of hiding
On New Year's Day.
One, then two fireworks grazed the city nightscape
Peppering the air with noise
Hollers and hoots joined
For some brief minutes, before dissipating
Into quiet.
I squinted from my window, then closed the shutters.
Turned off my devices
And curled up in bed.
Tonight, sleep found me easily.
2021 was tired, too
And was happy to let us enjoy the peace
Letting go of the year before.Inspiration strikes at imperfect times, but hey I made it before New Year's Day ended where I was.
