"What's wrong," I whisper.

"Alien tech," he responds with an extreme look of concern on his face. "We're not alone ... something's wrong ... we're not safe here, none of us are."

"But Doctor, you can fix it," I say while we walk slowly into the auditorium. "You're the Doctor, you're here to help, you're the oncoming storm, the destroyer of worlds ... you can do anything. You'll save us, you'll save everyone ... just like you always do." He smiles down at me, but I can still trace bits of concern and disbelief in his eyes. He squeezes my hand.

"Come along Pond," he says as he begins to take off down the adjoining corridor. I roll my eyes as I sprint down after him. God knows what the other people in the lobby think we are about to go do.

We take several turns, making the building seem like a twisted, inescapable labyrinth. We finally approach a locked gate, and The Doctor begins to sonic the lock.

"You can't do that," I say while gasping for breath. "That's breaking and entering, I could be expelled."

"It's not breaking and entering," he rolls his eyes. "It's sonicing and entering." With that he pushes open the gate and takes my hand.

"Where the hell are we going?" I feel around the room, for my eyes are still adjusting to the dimmed lights.

"The alien tech," he says while fiddling with the lights. "It's something I've never seen before."

"What do you mean?"

"It's a mix, a crossbreed," he begins. "Part nestene consciousness, part living plastic, all being controlled by a species billions of miles away. The messages are being transmitted through something in this school, something that appears ordinary."

"Then why are we here?"

"The controller has begun to send out signals, it's beginning to wake up the monsters within some at this school, many of them don't even know that they're being used. If I can find one of the affected people and scan them, maybe I can stop them before any of this even starts," he says. "Everyone will live." I smile as we walk a bit further into the room. We both jump as we hear a bang come from around the corner. The Doctor grabs my waist, pulls us behind a desk, and cups his hand over my mouth. The figure stumbles into the room and steadies himself on a cabinet.

"Doctor?" I whisper. "What's going on?"

"Do you trust me," he asks.

"Of course..."

"Then don't follow me, don't leave until I come to get you, don't let him see you." I nod as he kisses me lightly and walks into the center of the room, opposite the intruder.

"Who the hell are you," he says. I can help but giggle softly as I hear his voice, whenever he talks to an opponent his voice gets about two octaves lower, his attack voice, I like to call it.

"Finn, Finley Ward," the man says, his speech is slurred, it is clear that he is quite intoxicated.

"And what are you doing back here Finn," The Doctor says, walking closer and closer to Finley. He slowly begins to pull a complicated contraption out of his jacket. He flips a few switches, then shoves the device in Finn's face. "I don't think you're as innocent as you say you are." The device dings and The Doctor straightens his bowtie. "Ding."

"What's that?"

"It's a thing, it goes ding when there's stuff, and there's definitely stuff," I roll my eyes. "Now what are you up to, what are your leaders planning? I suggest you don't lie, because there are so many people in this school that I care about, I will not let anyone stop me. Do you know who I am?"

"No..."

"I am The Doctor. I am over 1,200 years old and my home is the planet Gallifrey. I am The Oncoming Storm, I am the Destroyer of Worlds. I've left my true love stranded on a Beach in another dimension, I can travel anywhere through time and space. I have stopped World War III and I invented the jammy dodger. I am a madman with a box, and I will stop at nothing to protect those that I love. I have seen things you will never believe, I have lost things you will never understand. I am the - You're pretty much a normal student aren't you." Finn nods and cowers as The Doctor steps forward and scans him with the sonic. I burst out laughing as I step out and place my hand on his shoulder. "Not a word from you," he says.

"What is going on," Finn stutters.

"Well," The Doctor begins. "This was just a routine inspection, you're free to go," he says as he begins to sprint down the hall with me in tow. We stop as soon as we are far enough away that Finn can no longer see us.

"That went well," I say with a giggle.

"I was pretty intimidating wasn't I," he says as he playfully pokes my nose with the tip of his finger. We laugh as we continue walking hand and hand back to where we started.

"What now," I ask.

"We wait," he says solemnly. "We wait for another sign, another chance to stop them."

"Sounds good," I respond. "Let's go, my parents are waiting."
