Chapter 47
"Well...this is a development." Tyrell muttered as he walked towards the wall. "There was no sign of this before...how come it's decided now to ...reveal itself?" The atmosphere was rather confusing, it was a mixture of relieved, curious and hesitance.
"Maybe your eyes are too old?" Vansila teased with a cheeky smile. It wasn't the occasion for her sass, it was rather out of place. In response Tyrell reached a hand over and messed with her hair. "Oi!" Vansila reached up and swatted his hand away. "You might be old but you're not mature!"
"Dear we have more pressing issues." Addamak silenced the teen with a calm hand. "I suppose ...they're clues" He resumed the action of stroking his beard. The action which reminded the twins of a stereotypical guide in fiction, they hoped that Addamak would be anything but stereotypical. They acknowledge that it would be very useful and handy to have a wise guide or companions and it would be a little bit of normal, something that they're used to. They had seen and read too many stories about situations such as this.
"Yeah...though that doesn't answer any of Ty's questions " Kelso muttered as she looked at the words on the wall. The words were plain and easy to read, save for the one which was glowing, you had to squint your eyes a little bit to be able to read what was actually written.
The wall read;
I am blind
But i hold the truth
Not within the paper, but within you
I'm more than i building
I mean more than what i am
A symbol of honour and of pride
A symbol of life from the ground
Return them to me
And it will be found
"It seems that there is some order to this." Landso had pushed his glasses up further as he analysed the writing. It didn't take Kelso long to go and get her camera and take pictures of the writing. It took her a couple of tries and a lot of mumbling to get an even decent picture of the wall. So she gave up.
"Maybe it doesn't want it's picture taken?" Sylvester suggested, If someone had suggested that to Kelso a few weeks ago she would have brushed it off and laughed lightly. Now she was actually considering whether or not the wall wanted it's picture taken. She resorted to writing down the riddles and clues, using a secret alphabet that her and Tyrell made up. It wouldn't make much sense to anyone but them. She figured that it would be safer that way, Nobody else would be able to read it. Though she hoped nobody would get her hands on the book itself.
"What are the chances that you guys just so happened to accidentally trigger the first clue ?" Acheron huffed and crossed his arms. Landso's head immediately snapped to his brother with an eager grin.
"One in eight." Landso declared happily. He didn't catch onto the fact it was a rhetorical question, he was just happy he knew the answer. Acheron would have teased him, he would have snorted and ruffled his brother's hair , telling him nobody actually cared. He didn't m this time he just revelled in the fact his brother looked happy. It's true that Landso wanted to be the advisor for the royals and that was no secret. Acheron didn't know what he wanted, though they all cared for each other. Even Laylian had a smile on her face watching the small interaction.
"Well we shall thank your lucky stars that it was!" Addamak clapped his hands. "These clues should help us figure out what has to be...sacrificed in order to well...we don't know. In order to save humanity I suppose." The uncertainty was something that none of them enjoyed. They know that they had to figure out the puzzle, whether it was curiosity or finishing the prophecy. There was no all-knowing power which would give them the answers and so they had to take it step by step.
"I feel like a few of these are rather simple." Tyrell mumbled "Though it seems like feelings and actions could perhaps activate the symbols." The confusion at this statement caused him to sigh. "Within you? Come on, that's like...emotion. We're not going to be sacrificing any organs ...it's highly possible that we aren't sacrificing any organs."
"I see your point." Landso mumbled. It caused some surprise from his brother and Vansilla. "So actions and feelings could be sacrifice, like events triggering a bigger event?" Landso hadn't looked more grown up in his life, it made Laylians' heart ache a little bit. He looked so serious, He shouldn't look as serious as he did. According to Laylian he should be running around and hanging out with friends. She supposed they all should be relaxing right now like regular students, though none of them are regular people.
"But would we need to be here? And why hadn't it activated when others did it? What marks us so special?" Kelso questioned as she bounced up and down from her nerves. She didn't like the pressure which was on her shoulders. She didn't see why they were the ones who had to deal with it. They're the pens who had the dream of this place, they were the ones to find the place. She just wanted to know why ? Why was it them?
"Maybe it's because you were meant to?" Acheron didn't realize how wise he sounded. He thought it was straight forward and common sense. He believed in fate and destiny, a lot of fae did. Though the statement made the humans take a deep breath. They weren't sued to the thought that things were supposed to happen, simply because they were.
The tense atmosphere was broken by a loud ringing. Once again the twins took in a sharp intake of breath as Tyrell picked up his phone. "Hello?" He was expecting it to be one of his parents, he was expecting to hand the phone over to Kelso . Though he didn't expect anything close to what he was told. "What? I see...thank you we'll be there soon."
He hung up the phone with a grim expression. A grim, scared and panicked expression. He rushed back to the centre of the place and grabbed his stuff. "We have to go." He ran back to grab Kelso's hand, who was breathing heavier and heavier by the second. "Nanna's in hospital."
