(Mistake)

The moment we met was delightful

Every minute spent with you was beautiful

You told me you liked me and I believed you

I held it close to my heart, it became my truth

Until months later, you were busy with work

I thought you were honest, but you were busy with some other girl

I gave you my all, thinking you were just busy with your career

But you fell for someone else and you no longer held me dear

Many people told me to let you go

Yet I ignored them and held you so

My heart was whole but now it's broke

I no longer cared for my heart, I cared for yours

I sold my soul to the darkness inside

I hope what we wasn't a lie

You're considering possibilities while I was considering our future

I trusted your word, believing it was forever

My heart and my mind left their senses

For you, I let down my defenses

And now, I'll cry every night awake

Because loving you seemed like the best mistake I ever made
