Maddie slowly opened her eyes. Every part of her hurt. What had happened? She closed her eyes as she tried to recall the past.

"Let's see," thought Maddie, "I made a painting, went to bed, mom called me, I saw Mike dead, I-,"

Maddie stopped. It had just now registered that Mike was dead. That this wasn't some dream. She shot up, frantically searching her surroundings. But there was nothing. The area around her was devoid of all color. Just white. Tears welled up in her eyes. Maddie tried to calm herself, but she failed. Her sobs rang out through the air. And that's when the voices started.

Aw, the little baby crying?

Ha! Pathetic!

There's no escape for you.

Ew, I hate sob stories, especially from this mistake.

We should've just left you there to die! No one would miss you anyways.

"Who are you!?" Maddie shouted into the emptiness, "Someone would miss me! I have friends you know. I'm not alone!"

'You only deceiving yourself, you know that's not true,'

"W-who are you?" whispered Maddie.

'Oh you poor, idiotic thing. I'm Fate, and let me ask you something. Do you know what Undertale is?'

Of course Maddie knew what Undertale was! It was only the best thing ever made. But why would the voi- Fate ask that. She decided to roll with it.

"Yeah, Undertale is one of my favorite games," Maddie said awkwardly.

'What if I was to tell you to was REAL? All of it. Sealed away in a corner of space. Where you humans manipulate us. JUST. LIKE. A. GAME,'

Maddie froze. That couldn't be true. Fate was lying. But then, would that explain what had happened to her? On where she was, and the red strings? She thought back to when she would read stories on Wattpad, about a story harrish6 had made. About a skeleton named Error being the forced god of destruction. If that was true, then Fate, the one who had plucked Error from his AU, was the one talking to her. Maddie opened her mouth to yell at Fate, but stopped. If the people outside of the game were the ones controlling all of these game people, would that mean it was harrish6 fault for this!? One thought after another raced through her head.

'Wow. So many theories, though I doubt someone like you would be able to understand it all,'

Maddie ignored Fate. Wait, what if she was apart of the game!? WHAT IF SHE WAS JUST A STORY ON WATTPAD!?

(Author tries to fix fourth wall, but fails, resulting in a quick reset.)

"Am I... am I in the game?" thought Maddie.

'Yep! Wow, took you long enough to figure that out. Welp, with all of that knowledge you hold in that small head of yours, I can bet you can figure out what happens next,'

And that's when it happened. Maddie's head erupted with screaming, never ending screaming. And pain. The pain, it was so unbearable. She screamed, cried out for help, begged it to stop,

BUT

NOBODY

CAME.
