Mel's POV

"Mel...", Jill whispered and I shook my head with my eyes closed.

"Your phone is ringing for the third time in the last ten minutes," she continued to speak and I opened my eyes tiredly. Jill was sitting next to me in bed, scrolling on her phone. She put it aside and gave me a gentle kiss.

"What time is it...?", I asked sleepily and Jill smiled slightly.

"A little after 9, but I didn't want to wake you up earlier..."

I was about to reply when my phone vibrated again and I saw that my grandmother was calling me. We didn't really have much contact, so what did she want from me now?

"Melissa! What was that about?!" my grandmother called out straight after I answered the call and I rolled my eyes.

"Good morning to you too," I grumbled and stood up.

"Do you have any idea what kind of situation you're putting us in! That you're putting ME in?!" she yelled at me and I rolled my eyes again.

"I didn't do anything! But wait a minute...I want to be able to sit down somewhere before you yell at me again," I said annoyed and then held my phone up to my chest so she couldn't hear me.

"About the article?", Jill asked worriedly and I nodded slightly.

"Yeah. She's just blaming me for what a situation I'm putting her in," I muttered, took one of Jill's sweater and put it on. I went into the living room and sat down on the couch.

"Now I have time. I just didn't want to talk to you in front of Jill," I admitted, and my grandma sighed.

"If it weren't for her, you wouldn't be having this problem right now!"

"What problem? Yeah, the article is really crappy and we're both overwhelmed...but it doesn't change how I feel about her..."

"Wait...you didn't plan this?!" she asked in surprise and I sighed.

"No. Why would we? Neither of us wanted this...especially not with that picture. There are better ones..."

"So she didn't talk you into it?"

"What?! Of course not! She didn't even want the whole thing! If one of us would have made our relationship public, it would have been me! Believe me, we've been talking about it for weeks...", I hissed and my grandma fell silent for a moment.

"I'm sorry. I just don't want her to do anything against your will.", she spoke more softly and I smiled slightly.

"She would never do anything against my will. She really wouldn't. You don't have to worry."

"But the article is everywhere..." she indicated and I sighed softly.

"I know...but we will work it out. I'd just like to know who sent the picture. But maybe it just got forwarded to the wrong person by some employee. At least that's the only logical explanation for me. What did you actually mean when you said that I would do something to you...?"

"There's been talking. About you being into women. That you left your family because of her..." she told me and I had to swallow.

"What bullshit. Is that what you think too...?"

"Hm...I don't know. She seems okay, after all. Besides, your dad likes her. But...I'm sorry I yelled at you" she said and I smiled slightly. Then she said goodbye to me.

"Are you okay...?", Jill asked cautiously and I looked at her smiling.

"Yeah...", I grinned and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Then I leaned against her and Jill put an arm around me. I told her about the call and she gave me a kiss on the head.
