Y/N smiled as they watched building's pass by on their way to the diner. Y/N looked over at Charlie, who was driving at the moment.

"For a town called Hurricane, I expected more rain." Y/N said jokingly. Charlie couldn't help but smile.

Soon they arrived and walked into the diner to meet their friends for the tirst time in ten years.

The warmth, the noise, and light of the
restaurant hit Charlie like a wave as she entered. For a moment she was overwhelmed but Jessica saw her pause in the doorway and shouted her and Y/N's name. Charlie and Y/N smiled and went over.

"Hi," Charlie said awkwardly, flicking her eyes at each of them but not fully making contact. Jessica scooted over on the red vinyl bench and patted the seat beside her.

"Here, sit." Jessica said. "I was just telling John and Carlton about my glamorous life." She rolled her eyes as she said it, managing to convey both self-deprecation and the sense that her life was truly something exciting.

"Did you know Jessica lives in New York?" Carlton said. There was something careful about the way he spoke, like he was thinking about his words before he formed them. John was silent, but he smiled at Charlie anxiously.

"Really? That's how we are starting our conversation? No hey what's up? Or hey how's life treating you?" Y/N thought to themself.

"Eight million people live in New York, Carlton. It's not exactly an achievement," Jessica said. Carlton shrugged. "I've never been anywhere," he said.

"I didn't know you still lived in town," Charlie said. "Where else am I going to live? My family has been here since 1896." He added, deepening his voice to mimic his father.

"Is that even true?' Charlie asked.

"I don't know," Carlton said in his own register. "Could  be. Dad ran for mayor two years ago. I mean, he lost, but still, who runs for mayor?" He made a face.

"I swear, the day I turn eighteen I am out of here." Carlton said.

"That's what everyone says. At least seven out of ten end up staying in their home town." Y/N said. They were not sure if they were right or not, but they felt like they might be right.

"Except I actually plan to leave." Carlton said.

"Where do you plan on going to?" Y/N asked.

"I...I'll get back to you when I figure it out." Carlton said to Y/N. He hadn't really thought about his plan on leaving.

"So how are you two?" Jessica asked Y/N and Charlie. "We're dating. We've been dating for almost two years." Charlie said. A look of disappointment covered John's face.

Y/N couldn't help but notice this. They tried looking away from him. They didn't wanna feel guilty.

"Oh really? Good for you." Jessica said with a smile and looked at the two. "I always knew that you two would get together eventually." Jessica said to them. John forced a smile which made Y/N uncomfortable.

"Remind me not to walk in front of him in a dark alley." Y/N thought to themself.

"May I take your order?" A waitress asked the group. Y/N just said the first thing that came to mind. "Hamburger with fries." Y/N said. The others ordered from the breakfast menu. Y/N looked outside and at the night sky. "It's seven at night." Y/N thought to themself.

"So where's everyone else?" Charlie asked.

"Tomorrow." John said.

"They're coming tomorrow morning." Jessica said to clarify. "Marla's bringing her little brother. Can you believe it?" Jessica said.

"Wait? Baby Jason?" Y/N asked. They remembered seeing Jason when he was a baby.

"Ya. He's not a baby anymore." Charlie said. "I mean, who would want a baby around?" Jessica said.

"What about Michael?" Y/N asked. "Can't come. He's in art school and couldn't find time. He did apologize and send his regards." Carlton said.

"I'm surprised you even came. I mean, nobody would blame you if you didn't want to go. It was your dad and brother who..." Jessica said, but stopped herself.

"What about your mom? Didn't she want to come?" Carlton asked.

"She wanted to, but she didn't. She said she had to many painful memories and regrets." Y/N said and looked down. They tried to remember the day they lost them, but the truth was that they couldn't remember. They couldn't remember anything about Freddy's. Their psychiatrist said that what they saw and went through that day must have been so traumatic and horrible that they blocked out all the memory's. But there were a few snippets of things that they remembered.

Charlie held Y/N hand. The group figured that they should change the conversation before they said something that would trigger Y/N.

"So where are you two staying? I booked a room at the motel down the Highway. It was all I could find. The boys are staying with Carlton." Jessica said.

"Oh really? We're staying there too." Charlie said to Jessica.

"What happened to Freddy's?" Y/N asked out of nowhere. Everyone looked at him in surprise, but the topic was going to come up sooner or later.

"Well, they built over it." Carlton admitted. Y/N nodded as he listened to this. "That's all I wanted to know. That and if those animatronic's got scrapped. I never really liked the animatronic's. They always looked like they were getting ready to commit a murder, or at least something like that." Y/N said in all honesty.

"Well, they did look kinda creepy." Carlton said in agreement. "See, he gets it." Y/N said. Y/N didn't know when they first got their Automatonophobia (Fear of animatronic's.) and their Submechanophobia (Fear of submerged man made objects.) but it started around the age of either three or five.

"But I'm not sure what happened to the animatronic's. I think someone would have to get Charlie's permission first. I mean, her father did own the place." Carlton said.

Charlie felt the light glaring down at her. She felt exposed. As soon as the food arrived, she got up. "I'm going outside for a minute. Smoke break." She said and walked outside.

"That's a lie." Y/N said. "She doesn't smoke." Y/N said and was about to get up. "I'll talk to her." John said jumping at the opportunity. Y/N looked at John, unsure about the idea. Y/N's girlfriend with an old crush, that doesn't sound good.
