*ping!* Kunimi ducked as he dove to hide behind a rock, loading his pistol and waiting before peaking out from behind the rock and shooting. "I told you this was a BAD IDEA! Did you listen?! NO!" Kunimi ducked again as he laughed at his good friend, Kenjirou Shirabu's exclamation. "To be completely fair-" Kunimi again peaked around the big rock, shooting at the enemy before returning to his place beside his friend. "Do I ever?" Kunimi sent his friend a grin as he reloaded his gun, Shirabu only chuckling as he rolled his eyes, "No. I should've known you'd get me killed one day, might as well be today." Kunimi laughed, "Well, I'm not ready to die, so you're going to have to wait a bit longer my friend." The main character of this story, Akira Kunimi; Second mate of a French Merchant ship, is currently hiding behind a large rock on the forbidden island of Karasuno. Huddled beside him is his closest friend and a representative of said French Merchant company; Kenjirou Shirabu. "Hold your fire." The shooting stopped, the two men's eyes widening at the deep voice commanding the cease fire. "You two behind the rock; come out. We will not shoot so long as you come peacefully. Resist, and we will not hesitate to kill you." Giving each other a look, Kunimi shrugged and stood up, Shirabu following him shortly after. Stepping out from behind the boulder Kunimi and Shirabu are face to face with the infamous Wakatoshi Ushijima; He used to be a respected and feared military leader, that is before the allied forces of Austria, Russia and Prussia won the battle and he was exiled to the island of Karasuno. "State your business for coming here." Kunimi gulped and stepped forward. "I'm Akira Kunimi, I'm second mate of the ship docked here, my friend and I are here seeking help for our captain he's very ill and I fear he won't last the night." Ushijima's stoic expression remained on his face before he turned around. "Follow me. I'll lend you the services of my physician for your sickly captain. But in return I will require a favor." Kunimi and Shirabu looked at each other before shrugging and following behind the tall man. After they had gotten their captain the necessary medical attention, the crew started to settle down for the night deciding it'd be best to set sail for Marseilles. Kunimi was just about to head to his cabin when, "Young man, Akira, yes?" Kunimi turned around to see Ushijima making his way towards him. Kunimi nodded. Ushijima gestured for Kunimi to follow him. Walking a ways away from the ship Ushijima stopped, turning around to face Kunimi. "I offered you safety and the use of my physician for a favor, do you recall?" Kunimi slowly nodded, "I do, I take it you're about to aske me said favor?" A small smile made its way to Ushijima's face, in all honesty he liked the young sailor and he admired his bravery; hence why he had asked him above anyone else to do this small task. Reaching into his coats pocket Ushijima pulled out a letter. "Give this to a man by the name of Colonel Tanji Washijo when you return to Marseilles. It is very important he receives the information incased in this envelope. I trust you will get it to him?" Kunimi nodded as he took the envelope, slipping it into the pocket of his own coat. "I'll do it as soon as I can, I'll have a few affairs of my own to take care of before I can return it to him." Ushijima nodded, starting his journey towards his home on the island. "As long as it gets there I don't care, get you and your men back safely young man." Kunimi nodded, gave a small smile and walked back towards the ship, not caring about the information held inside the letter he carried. The same could not be said for the young Shirabu who had been watching the affair go down from around the corner. Returning back to the ship Kunimi was instantly bombarded by the ship's First Mate, Shigeru Yahaba. "First, you ignore my direct orders not to go to this island, then you go and disappear?! Have you no respect for the chain of command?!" Kunimi scowled. When their captain had been on the verge of life and death the First mate and Second mate had a bit of a disagreement. Yahaba wanted to get back to Marseilles, while Kunimi wanted to stop at the forbidden island of Karasuno, knowing that it was the best shot they had at saving their captain. "I had something to take care of, now, if you'd please move? I'm quite exhausted from doing to job that was assigned to you all day. Have a good night." Kunimi walked back to his cabin, leaving a fuming Yahaba behind him. Once dawn broke the crew made their way back towards their original destination; Marseilles France. Docking the ship Kunimi was working on unloading cargo when he was called by Nobuteru Irihata; the owner of the company Kunimi works for. "May I have a word?" Kunimi nervously nodded. He was aware what he did was very much against the rules. "It was risky, dangerous and extremely unprofessional of you to ignore the orders from those above you. But, your actions are the reason your ships captain is still alive, and your crews safe return. I commend you for your bravery Akira, not to mention your displays of your great talent as a sailor and leader." Kunimi (along with Yahaba and Shirabu who were there as well) looked shocked to hear the words coming from his bosses mouth. "U-uhm. Thank you sir." Irihata nodded, "That's why I'm promoting you to Captain. Congratulations son, you deserve it. I suggest you celebrate and tell that girlfriend of yours." Kunimi smiled widely, excitedly nodding and shaking the older mans hand. "I will sir! Thank you for the opportunity! And she won't be my girlfriend much longer; soon I intend to make her my wife." The words stung as they processed into Shirabu's brain. As long as he could remember he had been in love with the beautiful, talented and kind Y/n L/n, but she, despite having known Shirabu longer, fell for his closest friend, Kunimi...He had tried to let it go, he had. But it's hard to let go when it's unintentionally rubbed in your face day, after day of what you don't, and will never have. 'Forgive me, old friend. But it's time I start being selfish and taking what is rightfully mine.' With that Shirabu quietly dragged Yahaba out of the meeting and towards Kunimi's quarters, as he does this he wonders, what will Y/n think of Akira Kunimi when he's discovered a traitor...?
