They tell us to just breathe,
To inhale light
To relax, to exhale
All negative feelings
Sometimes it works, sometimes it fails
Miserably...
So often do I wonder, "don't they see?"
"Don't they get it?"
Can't they tell that breathing is not
What will pull me through?
Some people say that breathing can change
Our mental state in seconds,
But don't they realise that maybe
It is something we need to process,
To work through?
I am so tired of being told
To breathe through it
To 'think positive thoughts'
Because sometimes, all I need
Is a safe space
To let go,
To be vulnerable.
Is that really too much to ask?
