The ignition turns onA rumble starts
The seat creaks and the wheel turns
Out of the driveway
The headlights shine into the silent night
Passing houses in the street
A sweet rosy smell enters your nose
From the familiar scent in the car
Eyes gliding across the darkness of the night
Corners turned with caution
Breath held
As you enter the carpark
You hear the familiar crash and rumbling
Of your sanctuary
The comfort in your chaos
Your friend, the ocean.
Your fingers glide over the the door
Feet slipping out of your flip flops
Touching the cool texture
Of the sand below your feet
A small smack as the door closes
A sudden beeping sound
As the keys lock the car
Inhale. Exhale.
Your face turns to the ocean
And a smile spreads across your cheeks
Hair dancing in the wild wind
Your toes stretch and squeak
As you take slow steps
Towards the waves
Before you, you see your friend
Crashing wildly, unafraid
Powerful. Merciless.
As you come closer to the water
The taste of salt lands on your tongue
A sweet reminder of the freedom
This magical place provides
Your face lifts to the stars
Twinkling bright
Glowing grains of light
Speckled across the sky
The moon glowing in silver
Waves touched by its transcending enchantment
As you quietly stand with your feet
In the refreshing water's edge
A light, sudden sound
At first, is it real?
But then, another
A long whistle carried across the wind
Fingers perched on your lips
A confirmation sound in return
A small smile across your lips
As your steps become light
Sinking sand as your steps quicken
And a yell escapes your mouth
A sound of pure joy, of wild abandon
In the distance, a figure
At first, held in the shadows
But your eyes find theirs
As you run into their arms
A moment of wild heart beating
Of breathless joy
Until an inner warmth
Embraces your soul
A state of longing mirrors your eyes
A look of yearning held within them
And then, before your mind can comprehend
Warmth encompasses your lips...
Sweet passion tangles you together
An urgency of feeling
The need to express without the necessity for words
Hearts beating rawly in synchronisation
Hands grasping at your hair
Arms protecting a moment of bliss
And in it
Refusing to acknowledge
That all of this magic
Could never come true.-
