Chapter Fourteen: Day of the Dance

The whole school cafeteria was buzzing with talk. I guess it had something to do with the dance.

"I feel so alone. You have Hunter and I have no one as a date," Sarah groaned.

"Just ask someone," I replied, not really paying attention.

                           "Are you ok?" Sarah asked.

"I don't know. I've been feeling weird all day," I answered.

"Maybe it's just pre-dance jitters. What are you and Hunter doing anyway?" Sarah asked.

"Dancing, eating, breathing. The usual," I answered.

"You're no fun date after all," Sarah replied, "I feel bad for poor Hunter."

I rolled my eyes and just shrugged off my jitters. I noticed Logan sitting alone. I wondered if he had a date. Oh, how badly I wanted to sit next to him.

"Here's your boyfriend now," Sarah said in a sing song voice.

                          "Shut up," I hissed.

"Team Hana! I ship you so hard!" Sarah shouted.

"I ship us too," Hunter replied.

"I hate that shipping shit. What is the point?" I asked.

"I guess the point is to annoy you then," Hunter answered.

"Very funny," I said sarcastically while stuffing my face with fries.

                          "Attractive," Hunter said.

"Love you too, babe," I said.

I looked at myself in the mirror. The dress I was  wearing a sleeveless sparkly mini dress that had a heart shape on the top to {purposely} reveal cleavage and the color was a pretty pink champagne.

My hair was in curls and put in a pretty ponytail. I had pearl earrings on and [what a shocker] finally put makeup on that was more than Chapstick.

My heart was pumping so hard I thought it was going to pump out of my chest. It was just a stupid dance. Nothing too important.

I went downstairs and saw my dad with a camera ready.

I flashed a quick smile as my dad took the picture before walking to the living room and saw Hunter waiting for me.

"Don't look at me. I look like a girl," I said, turning around.

"I think that's the whole point of a dress and shoes and other stuff," Hunter replied.

"You are not helping," I moaned.

"Hey, if it helps anymore, you look as pretty as me," Hunter said with a wink.

I stuck my tongue out at him.

"One last picture for the couple," Dad said, camera at the ready.

"I swear to God...," I muttered.

I put bunny ears behind Hunter's head and I could feel him do it to me before the flash went off. I started seeing spots when Hunter took my hand and said, "Ready to go?"

                  "Yeah," I answered.

And as we left the door, I smiled. Maybe tonight would be fun.
