CHAPTER FIVE

I HAD taken my time to get ready for tonight. I didn't fully know what was going to happen but I knew I needed to look nice. To say I was excited to wear a dress tonight, I'd be lying.

Now, I may steer away from dresses and go for a more comfy style, but that never met I hated dresses. Every once in and while I'll wear a dress for the night or the day. But once you see me in it, you won't see me in one for another 3 months. It's a very rare sight to see me in a dress and you can only see this sight on special occasions.

But I have had no special occasions so this will be the first time in almost three years that I have worn a dress in front of others.

A couple of maids helped me get ready for tonight. My dark black hair was French braided down and laid over my shoulder. I didn't wear any makeup, but I had a slight tint on my lips. The dress I chose was thin-strapped and mauve-colored. the top of the dress was like a corset. It had white and brown flowers on the top and around my hips. My waist had been synched in which gave me an hourglass shape.

I couldn't stop looking at myself in the mirror. I couldn't believe that was me. I looked at the clock that hung on the wall. It read 5:50. It was time for me to go.

I walked over to the glass doors and knocked. Arius opened the doors for me, then moved out of the way. I stepped out of the room and into the marble hallway. Arius guided me throughout the hallways and down steps till we reached our destination.

It was hard to admit but I was a little nervous. I wasn't sure I was ready to face anyone just yet. I listened to the banter of the royal family through the wooden door. I couldn't help but chuckle.

Arius went to open the door but froze and turned towards me with a sympathetic expression, "You don't need to be nervous, Aislin."

I couldn't help but laugh. Was I that easy to read, "Thank you Arius, but I'll be okay?"

He nodded, "I know you will, but knowing someone's supporting you is always a good feeling. His majesty may say unkind things to you, but his opinion of you will change."

I smiled, amused, "Oh yeah? How so?"

He smiled slyly, leaning forward and whispered, "Because His majesty can't resist a beautiful woman," and with that, he opened the door to the dining room and walked inside.

"Your majesty." He bowed to the queen.

She stood up from her spot at the head of the table and thanked him, waiting for me to enter. Queen Aria wore a dark plum dress that was synched at her waist. Her dark dress brought out the gold speckles in her dark skin. The sheer fabric laid on the edges of her shoulders.

When she saw me, a smile covered her whole face, "Ah! Aislin darling come in, come in!" I took a deep breath and fully entered the room. I felt five pairs of eyes look directly at me.

Queen Aria sat back down and looked to everyone at the table as I sat next to her, "Everyone this is Aislin. She is our guest."

I looked at the people surrounding the table. Queen Aria sat at the head of the table, Evander at her right side and I at her left.

A fifth-teen-year-old girl sat next to me. She had voluminous curly hair and lighter skin than the Queen. She has grey eyes that shine with happiness. She wore a white dress with black polka-dots.

Another man sat next to Evander. He looked around the same age as him. He had honey-colored eyes and dark skin.

A boy sat next to the girl at my side. He seemed to be seventeen. He had dark skin and bright green eyes.

"Hello! I am Senara." The girl next to me beaming. She pointed to the boy next to her," This is last the youngest brother Grey and the boy next to Evander is my eldest brother Koa."

"Hello." I greeted all of them. I could feel Evander's glare burning into my head.

"I can't believe you here! When Evander said you were here to help us find father, I thought he was bluffing." Grey said to me with his English accent.

"And why would you think that?" Koa asked Grey with an amused look.

"Because he's a filthy liar." Grey teased. Evander scoffed while everyone laughed.

Kia looked at me from his side of the table, "Thank you for being here. It means a lot to our family that you are willing to find our father."

"Yes, thank you! With you, we know we can get our father back." Senara smiled.

"I will do everything in my power to get him home safely. I promise."
