Dispur was declared as the capital of Assam in 1973. The capital of this state experiences warm summers and cool winters.

Sarbanada Sonowal, a man who served as the Union minister for sports and Youth Affairs, the Government of India, is now the Chief minister of this tea land, Assam. Jagdish Mukhi, a member of BJP and RSS, is currently the governor of Assam.

The state has two official languages; Bodo and Assamese. In some of the districts of the Barak Valley, Bengali is seen as the official language. Still, the majority of people in Assam speak Asamiya, the other name of Assamese, while Bodo is spoken mainly in the lower Assam areas.

Assam's diet mostly includes non-vegetarian food, especially rice, along with fish curry. If you want to have the best food in Assam, don't miss out on the bamboo shoots, chutney, and pickles. It is the specialty of Assam. Another noteworthy dish is Eri Polu. Made with the pupa of the silkworm, it is a unique and non-vegetarian dish of Assam. If you like experimenting with food, then do have these dishes once in your life, and you will truly enjoy them. If we talk about the staple food of Assam, then it's rice. The food here is generally bland, but the taste is on-point, and then there are many other cuisines for which Assam is famous.

During spring, an annual festival named Rongker is celebrated here at the same time when Punjab celebrates Baisakhi. This festival is celebrated to make people free from diseases and natural calamities throughout the year. They also worship to have a good harvest. This festival lasts for three days while the whole festival is divided into four parts.

Sadi:- It is the process of inviting deities to their village.

Karkli:- Then the deities are worshipped.

Rongphu-Rongling-kang thin:- Dances are performed to drive out the evil spirits from lower to upper Assam.

Langhe Rongkar:- On the third day, prayers are done to prevent tigers from attacking.

Assam attracts most of the tourists and visitors in North East India. The reason for this is that this state is blessed with stunning waterfalls, diverse wildlife, scenic tea gardens, and beauty all around. Assam is not just about scenic beauty, festivals, and culture, but it has historic places within it as well.

Rang Ghar:- It is one of the most famous historical places in Assam, also known as the Colosseum of the East. If we go by the literal meaning of Rang Ghar, then it means The House of Entertainment, which it indeed is. Though the walls have acquired some cracks now, this place is still worth visiting.

Hajo Powa Mecca:- Its literal meaning is one-quarter of Mecca, and it's a well known religious place. The local people believe that if they would worship here, then they would get one-fourth of god's blessing as compared to what they would get in Mecca.

Talatal Region:- This is again one of the best historical places in Assam. Not just this, but it's also the biggest Ahom Monument in the entire world. There's no chance of missing this place if you are visiting Assam.

It shows an impeccable journey of a girl named Dhunnu being from a small village and ending up being a rockstar. This film has won millions of hearts and not just in India, but this film has gained recognition internationally too.

Assam is famous for its folk dances. Bihu is one of the most important folk dances of this place. In this dance, male and female dance together in a synchronized manner. The steps done by females and males are almost similar except a few. These people usually wear red and golden costumes along with bright makeup, which enhances their overall performance.

Assam has a vast diversity within it. This land is a combination of Mongoloid, Indo-Burmese, Indo-Iranian, and Aryan. Assam has a rich culture. This state has a large number of tribes that are unique in their way, culture, dress, and exotic way of life.

This state is home to wildlife, has splendid tea gardens, massive historical monuments, scenic sites, beautiful waterfalls, exotic cuisine, and rich culture, making this state worth visiting.
