Chapter 52|| "If you go, I go ."

I sat back in my seat staring at the clock. Court is today. The finally count down as the clock strikes 12 and the office attendant calls my name.

My heart dropped for a moment as the crackle of the intercom filled the room

"Aliyah Peters to the office please"

With each step out of the room I felt the world crumble. It's like the lockers just grow closer to me. The air gets hard to breath and my chest feels heavier. It's moments like this without Luke that suck.

Mostly because he's my person. He's more than just a band mate or a bestfriend. He's my person.

With my focus too drawn to my thoughts I ended up running right into Ricky. His head down in his history book

"Sorry." I said abruptly walking away

His pale face flickered for a moment

"Aliyah." He said putting his hand on my wrist

I exhaled for a moment and collected my thoughts

"I have to go Ricky."

I walked off without regretting my decision. For once, I don't regret leaving him. I know my choice.

I got in the car and my mom drove off to the court house.

I've been sitting in this room for half an hour waiting. You know how frustrating that is. To just sit here and wait for something to happen.

The door opened to the court room.

"The judge will see you now."

I was read my rights, and sworn in.

"I promise to tell the truth and nothing but the truth."

Reggie came first, he sat up on the stand. My dads eyes were swollen and pink. He couldn't believe Reggie was alive. Let alone right under his nose.

He didn't care much about me. Just Reggie.
I just want to disappear. Everyone is looking at me and I'm just stuck. There's no out.

A warm hand settled on my thigh. His cold rings cause me to jump a little. I looked up as Luke nodded at me. His lips parted as he whispered

"you'll be okay princess." Rubbing his thumb back and forth as he spoke

I gave him a short smile, Julie sat behind me. I could feel her staring. Part of me felt horrible, she's been in love with him long before me.

But she left, she made her choice

"Luke." I said looking over to him as our eyes met

"What's wrong." He said furrowing his brows

Before I could tell him my dads lawyer started asking Reggie questions

"Reginald, is it true.."

Reggie cut the man off

"It's Reggie, just Reggie." He said looking up at him and back down at the desk

"Reggie, is it true that your mother kicked you out?"

"I left home." Reggie replied

"Is it true that you died." He said
