The Real Estate Agent arrived and we got out of the car.
Real Estate Agent - Sorry I'm late, I got caught up.
Laura - That's ok, I was just saying how good this house is, it's not too far from Pop's my new favorite place.
Real Estate Agent - That's perfect that you like it. Shall we look inside?
We nod as she unlocks the door. Wow, this place looks huge on the inside. I step outside then inside, back and forth.
Real Estate Agent - Yes, it looks bigger on the inside, but it will be homely once you move furniture inside.
Laura - I'm liking it so far.
45 minutes go by and I love the place, the pool has a spa connected, a waterfall and a slide. The house is pretty cheap for what it looks like.
Dad - Um, why is it so cheap when the place looks this good.
Real Estate Agent - People have bought the place only to put it back on sale because someone keeps breaking in but doesn't steal anything.
Laura - Who was the owner before all the complaints.
Real Estate Agent - That's confidential
Laura - I'm an FBI
I show her my badge. She rummages through the files and gives me the owner's name. Hale Cooper's dad.
Laura - Was the man breaking in wearing a black hood?
Real Estate Agent - Yeah, how did you know?
Laura - It's my job. Dad, it's Mr. Coopers dad. Do you think it was Hale breaking in because it was his childhood home?
Dad - Maybe, but he's in a psychiatric ward for the rest of his life.
Laura - So there shouldn't be any break-ins, right.
Dad - True. We will take the house.
Real Estate Agent - Great. Would you like to pay full now or weekly or monthly?
Laura - All full, now.
Real Estate Agent - Ok that will be $12,350.
She holds out the pay-machine and I swipe my card. It's approved.
Real Estate Agent - Enjoy the house, I'll put a sold sign out the front and let you settle in.
Dad - You did it.
Laura - I did it.
Dad - I can't believe you're 16 and living on your own.
Laura - I can't believe I'm 16 with hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Dad - I think you're the richest self earned 16 year old.
Laura - Are you saying the other rich kids get their money from their parents. *gasp* scandalous dad.
We laugh.
Dad - Let me know if you want help with anything.
Laura - Thank you dad.
We go home and I get my stuff packed. Dad helped.
Laura - I'm going to take this stuff to the house, can you drive me?
Dad - Sure thing honey.
Laura - Also, after that, can you take me to Pop's?
Dad - Sure, this weekend you're getting your learners. I can't drive you everywhere.
Laura - Agree. We can do that.
Dad - Ok lets go.
We put the stuff in the car and drop it all off at home. I lock the door and we get to Pop's.
Laura - Thanks dad. See you later. Also, I thought tonight might be the last night I stay home. You know?
Dad - If it makes you happy. Sure.
I smile, kiss his cheek and walk into Pop's.
