KASDEYA ARGYROS' Point of View
Being so near to the gods and their world makes my skin crawl.
But the next thing I know, I just turned eleven years old and my father is standing in front of me.
A shattering glass breaks the tension inside the room. Drops of blood fall on the shards and thousand knives tease my splitting mind.
"Kasdeya, kailangan mong kumalma." My father's voice is nothing but a background echo compared to the volume of my fast heartbeat. He's trying to inch closer, but even he is careful and scared of me.
They're pale and trembling badly. "A...anong nangyayari? What are you hiding from me?" Napansin niya iyon, and I swear I can see life leave his eyes because of my outrage.
He saw what happened. The look in his eyes are both fear and familiarity.
My father knows something I don't.
The more seconds pass, the more venom rises from my throat. I bite my lip to stop myself it from shaking badly. An unknown pit forms in my stomach, not feeling well in the slightest.
My surroundings becomes an amalgamation of colors and there's the sensation of my common-sense fleeting away from my body.
This night is supposed to be uneventful, not daring to break away from my usual routine of waiting for my father to get home during the night.
But then, after I reached for the night skies, the moon and stars shifted to follow the direction of my hand.
I accuse him with a bleeding finger. "What the hell was that?"
"Kasdeya, calm down!" His dark pink eyes glow like spinel gemstones basking in sunlight as he assert dominance over my howling voice.
I'm confused why I never inherited my father's peculiar pink irises.
And now that I can think more clearly, an epiphany strikes me like thunder and it branches out to conquer my entire being- He is not human.
I'm not human.
It infuriates me more than anything. Gano'n ba kahirap sabihin ang totoo?
So many questions but none are given the attention I want from him. I need him to say something!
My father's eyes finally soften before walking towards me. His movements are slow but carefully planned, as if he's trying to tame a beast who escaped from its steel cage.
"Kontrolin mo ang sarili mo, latria mou. Don't let it get the better of you." Those words are only a fleeting beat to my ears. My mouth sketches another scream in the air, cracking the windows and decorative vases I never liked to begin with.
Napangiwi siya bago mapahakbang palayo sa akin. My pupils constrict in unexplainable anger and overwhelming feelings. My skin feels heavy and cold.
