The room was vibrating, flashing colors of yellow and blue swimming over the soundproof walls. Keigo strummed his imaginary electric guitar, clenching his face and rocking his arms in playing motion.
He danced around, stepping up onto the padded sofas and pounding his fists against the walls. Aki wouldn't stop applauding, slapping his hands together until the repeated impact bruised his clammy palms.
Subtitle lyrics slowly played across the digital screen, while mascots dressed in animal costumes danced and ran in the green fields behind them. "Hell yeah!" Keigo yelled, tightening his grip on the dirty microphone.
Keigo flipped around, sweat streaming down his temples as he shook his bottom from side to side. Aki laughed hysterically, his deafening screams competing over the current track in this endless playlist.
The combination of their odors wrecked havoc on my nostrils, infiltrating them until it hurt to breathe. Aki joined right in, hopping beside Keigo and stomping his feet, all while bouncing his bottom from left to ride.
"Go, Papa! Go, Papa!" they shared a special handshake, tossing me aback and making me chuckle loudly. Radiating soundwaves echoed across the floor, shaking my feet and sending electric sparks up my spine.
"That's what I'm talking bout, Ak!" Keigo passed the microphone to the jumpy toddler, who was headbanging intensely. Their feathers ruffled with every wave of booted bass, their clacking shoes repeatedly tapping.
I scooted back on the padded couch, thick wires tangled around my legs and caught in the back of my heel. Aki cleared the area, handing back the microphone that Keigo was just about ready to sing into. "Wait-wait-wait!"
"Make room, guys! Make room!" he yapped, while I smashed my back against the wall and squeezed in my stomach. Holding my breath, I glared at Keigo for just a mere second, not surprised with the actions of these two.
But instead of quieting down Aki, and calming his hyper senses, Keigo cheered the kid on. "Do a flip!" he yelled, cracking his head back and laughing hysterically while Aki attempted a backflip onto the soft cushions.
It all happened within one second, my shrieking scream that had enough power to shatter glass, and Aki's surprisingly successful attempt. "Did you see that, Papa?!" he bunny hopped, and Keigo had already been filming.
"I got it on camera, kid! Whaddya' mean if I saw it?" they high-fived each other, while I tried desperately to close my fallen jaw. Keigo shoved the microphone back into its handle, the blaring television playing its next karaoke song.
"Go, (Y/N)! Sing for us, let me hear your pretty voice." Keigo pushed me, making me stumble forward and nearly trip over the many cords and empty, plastic water bottles. I could barely speak, or even make a sound.
I felt the thrill of the movement sparking every fiber in my body, an overwhelming sense of adrenaline coursing throughout every vein. Without thinking, I yanked the microphone out of its idle stand.
"Go, Mama! Go, Mama!" Aki giggled, laying back against Keigo's pounding chest. They were exhausted, heavily breathing and constantly wiping the endless rain of sweat that streamed down their cheeks and foreheads.
Keigo brushed back Aki's hair, combing it out of his shiny face. He reached for another cup of water, but only a few glossy drops fell out onto his parched tongue. "I'm gonna go fetch some more drinks, alright?" Keigo smiled.
Aki whimpered and stepped out of his lap, dramatically pouting his lips for a moment. "You're gonna miss Mama's performance?" he sighed, flashing a set of puppy dog eyes up towards Keigo. "Don't leave, Papa!" he cried.
"Nah, I wouldn't miss it for the world. I'll be right back, so don't worry." Keigo nuzzled the bulb of his pointy nose against Aki's, before planting a gentle kiss upon his temples. "Tell you what, I'll even get you fruit punch!"
"Fruit punch?!" Aki tried to scream, but the door was open, so he was immediately shushed by Keigo's finger. "Oh-oh-oh, sorryyy." now he spoke in a whisper, watching in awe as Keigo strolled out of the private karaoke room.
"Alright, you ready, baby?!" I laughed, spreading out my opposite arm for Aki. He came running, slamming his face into my stomach and gripping his fingers onto the hems of my casual tee. "Let's make this a duo, okay?"
"Awesome!" Aki cheered, holding my hand and picking up the smaller microphone. We took a moment to gather ourselves, before synchronizing our out of pitch voices and practically yelling at the fast playing lyrics.
We hopped up and down, shaking our hands together and letting our sweat fly. Strands of my hair stuck to my sticky cheeks, while I tried my best not to huff loudly out of exhaustion in front of Aki.
He stepped on my shoes, kicking away empty cups and popping out his chest. He rocked his head from left to right, yelling inaudible words into the sensitive microphone. At one point, I genuinely believed that I had gone deaf.
"My name is Aki, but you can call me awesome! My parents are great, and I love to eat hamburgers!" he shrieked, while I stopped singing to scream out my breathless laughter. Flashing me a bright smile, I just needed to sit down.
The doorknob then twisted open, and here came mighty Keigo. With wet bottles of fruit punch and hydrating water in hand, he set them atop the hard-surfaced coffee table. "Yo, I'm back!" he waved at the two of us.
"Hah, you should've heard what Aki just said." I sulked against the aligning sofa, my lungs stolen of all their harnessed oxygen. I could barely breathe, and when I did, my stomach would cramp and ache in pain.
"Don't tell me you're beat, already!" Keigo groaned, shutting the soundproof door and locking its secure tab. He picked up the television remote and got ready to switch music channels, while I tried to stand up off the edge.
"Watch me lose tons of weight from all this dancing." I shook the tension off my hands, readying up for the next song. The two of them giggled at my smart remark, already hopping in place as if the harmony were playing.
