y/n’s half lidded and hazy eyes scanned the place as they patiently waited in line to order their drink. they held their hand to their mouth to suppress a yawn as they tapped their foot against the wooden floor. finally after a few minutes of waiting it was their turn to order.

“hello good morning, what can i get for you today?” the barista asked as their eyes traveled to meet y/n’s. the teen spoke, “hello can i get a ummm…. caramel cappuccino with extra whip cream and caramel syrup?”

( i’ve never ordered coffee
before pls don’t come at me )

the person nodded. ‘“anything else?”

“no thank you”

“alright that would be… *money noises * ”

“alright” y/n said handing the cashier the required amount.

after about 5 minutes their drink was ready to go. the teen grabbed the beverage and zoomed out of the coffee shop making their way to the park they always went to, coffee in hand as they inhaled the fresh morning air. y/n walked quietly to a bench that was far apart from the others and sat down.

they smiled taking a sip of their beverage and enjoying the flavour it left on their mouth. as per usual, they took their book out from their bag and opened it to the last page they had bookmarked from their previous reading.

yn’s e/c eyes read through each word as they played out the conversations in their head.

“𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐨… 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐮𝐩 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦?”

“𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝.”

y/n fingers traced through those words as they continued to read.

“𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐢 𝐚𝐦 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧, 𝐢 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐧𝐨 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞. 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭, 𝐢 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐢 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞?”

“𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞-”

“𝐰𝐡𝐲? 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭? 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡! 𝐬𝐞𝐞? 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠! 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠! 𝐢 𝐚𝐦 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐬 𝐬𝐨– 𝐬𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐢”

“𝐢 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭.”

something in those words made the teen’s stomach twist.

as they continued to read and get lost in their own little world they came to a set of words that made their stomach swirl with an indescribable feeling they never felt before.

“𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐢 𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐦𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐮𝐩, 𝐜𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢 𝐰𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫, 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐢 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐫? 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐨𝐭.”
