The next morning I'm the first one awake and in my sleepy state I decide to go get some coffee for the three of us. If only my friends were up to remind me to take something very important with me once I've thrown on some leggings and a t-shirt. I'm out the door in seconds running down the stairwell while pulling my hair into something acceptable for the public to see. Once I'm outside I take a deep breath while smiling, people already walking around on the sidewalks. My eyes spot a cafe across the street so I look both ways before jogging over, there are couples on the patio living in their own worlds as I pass by to walk into the small shop. I'm surprised to see that there's only one person in line at the counter so I quickly step behind them to wait to order for me and my two friends.

When I order the coffees minutes later I got to take out my wallet but my hand doesn't find the familiar pocket where it always sits. I snap my head down in panic and remember that I wore leggings, which don't have pockets, meaning no wallet. "Shit" I mumble, I look back at the line behind me feeling horrible for holding up all of the people. I turn to the employee who his watching me confused, I open my mouth to tell the girl that I forgot my wallet. Before I can a deep voice cuts me off in a flurry of french, while handing a credit card to the girl serving me. Once she thanks us and tells us where to wait for our coffee I step away from the counter turning to look at the guy who saved me. "Thank you so much" I exclaim peering up into his blue eyes, he smiles, "you're welcome, I could see the panic in your eyes when you turned around for a second" he replies making me blush, "i'm usually not this unprepared" I mumble, he laughs, "no need to explain" I smile thankfully.

Our coffees are placed on the counter in front of us preventing anymore conversation, the guy takes his to go cup from the tray and I grab the three other coffees thanking the barista in my best french. "Can I help you with those?" the blue eyes stranger asks me, "I think i'm good" I reply as we walk out of the cafe together. "Where are you headed?" I smile and point across the street, he chuckles, "wow" I nod, "lucked out for sure" he smiles down at me making my cheeks heat up, "I should go before my friends wake up and wonder where i've gone" I say breaking our eye contact, "thank you again for paying for these" he shrugs before sipping his coffee. "Maybe i'll see you around" he tells me, I shrug in response and turn around to cross the street safely. When i'm at the front door of our building I look back once more to see the guy still watching me with a smile on his face, I blush and quickly slip through the door going up the stairs to the apartment.

☕️☕️☕️

I walk into the apartment trying to stay quiet as I go to our little kitchen. "Where did you go?" I jump but manage to keep the coffee cups upright, "jeez don't do that" I say to Wren who is smiling sheepishly at me. "I went and got coffee for us" I tell her and Émie, "aw you're the best Del" I shrug placing the tray of cups on the counter, "I was up anyways" I mumble and take my cup before leaning against the counter. "So are you going to tell us about him, or do we need to ask?" I choke on the coffee I sipped, coughing a few times before I can breath again, "you saw?" they smile, "we saw you through the window" Émie explains with a shrug. I sigh bringing a hand over my face, "I forgot my wallet, because i'm an idiot, and he stepped in to pay" I tell my friends. "I want to forget my wallet more often" Wren says making me laugh, "I don't suggest that, it was so embarrassing" she winks, "but you met a very attractive guy in the process" I roll my eyes, "what's his name?" Émie asks with a grin, "I don't know, we didn't exchange names" she pouts, "aw boo" I giggle sipping at the warm drink in my hand.

After they grill me for as much info as possible about the mystery guy we sit down on the couch with our travel books in front of us. "Okay let's plan these two weeks because we don't want to miss anything important" I nod at Wren's statement and the two of us start opening books, "I'm going to make a grocery list because we need food in here" Émie tells us and we get to our tasks. We go back and forth in terms of what we should do and what food we need to buy for the next few days, but after a few hours we have everything sorted out. "Also Del you've been given the getting coffee duty because we want this vacation romance for you" I scoff, "I'm probably never going to see him again" Wren pats my shoulder as she stands, "never say never Del, this is Monte Carlo after all, the romance novel city" I sigh accepting that they will never let me live down this morning.

We end up going out for groceries, knowing that we need food the most out of everything that we planned. After a hectic trip to the local market we stumbled back into the apartment stocking the fridge and pantry before making a meal, laughter and music making the experience so much better than it usually is. By the time night rolls around we're all laying on my bed with the TV in my room playing a movie, snacks surrounding us feeling completely at peace. We eventually fall asleep, my mind thinking about the handsome guy from this morning, wishing that I got a name to put to the face.
