PAIN IMMEDIATELY SEARED
through your knees as they dragged against the ground, the force of your fall launching you forward and sending you tumbling towards the edge of the cliff.
not seconds earlier, you had being close to overtaking an infamous skater at 's', but must've gotten too cocky and turned too fast around a corner. the wheels of your skateboard had scraped against the rocky ground, ripping any and all sense of control from you.
everyone froze, eyes wide as they observed your limp state on the giant screen.
all apart from one - your boyfriend, reki, who had immediately mounted his skateboard, coming for you as fast as he possibly could. he was driven by panic, no longer being careful about how quick he was going: his only concern was you.
when he finally got to you, which he did so relatively quick, he sprinted towards you, carelessly discarding his skateboard onto the pile of rocks beside him.
the person you were skating against was frozen in shock, stuck between offering you aid and getting help.
reki fell to his knees, pulling your top half onto his lap and hurriedly brushing the stray, now-dirtied hair from your forehead. his hands were shaking, desperate to feel your heartbeat as he searched for a sign of life within your frail body.
when he heard your low, shallow breathing, a feeling of relief burned within him. you were alive.
his trembling hands cupped your face as he gulped. "y-y/n? can you hear me?"
your face was scrunched up in pain, bottom lip trembling ever so slightly. when you hummed, reki let out a breath of much needed solace.
"it's okay," he whispered. "i got you."
still, no one had moved. they were all just staring vacantly at the eye-opening scene before them, unsure of what to do.
because of this, reki only grew more scared.
blood pooled around your knees, a large gash on the side of your cheek from your head-first collision with the ground.
reki turned to the person behind him, his large amber eyes filled with worry and turmoil. "what are you doing? help me pick him up!" he yelled urgently. the person blinked, opening their mouth to respond. "y-yeah, sure..."
hesitantly, they approached the two of you, lifting one of your arms around their neck whilst reki did the same on the right.
people finally began moving, many coming to help - that included your friends, langa, miya, joe, cherry and shadow, who were all extremely perturbed after watching the cruel scene unfold before them.
a few hours later, you awoke in reki's bed, the warmth of his sweater enveloping your top half whilst your body ached and stung. reki was beside you, looking down at the ground in shame.
he hadn't notice that you were awake.
"'ki?" you spoke, voice hoarse from lack of use. his head snapped over to you, eyes sparkling in respite.
"y/n! thank god you're okay," he said, going in for a hug before realization struck. "wait, nevermind... i can't, i don't want to hurt you. you know, with your..." he trailed off, gesturing to your body that was littered with plasters and bandages.
"right," you chuckled, your eyes flickered between him and the bed.
"are you okay?..." you asked. you could vaguely remember a very scared, no, petrified looking reki staring down at you, clinging to you whilst your vision clouded and turned a murky-grey.
you couldn't even imagine how frightening it must've been for him. "am i okay?" he repeated, exaggerating the 'i'.
"more like are you okay, mr 'i almost had to go to hospital'."
you laughed, weakly nudging your red-headed boyfriend. "i'm okay," you told him. "just a little... busted up."
"you can say that again," he agreed with a smile.
"ugh... what time is it?" you asked, trying to sit up in your bed. "nono, stay down," the red-head warned, placing a gentle hand on your chest to push you back down.
"uh, it may or may not be, um, like, i don't know, 4am?" he replied sheepishly, scratching his neck. you looked at him with wide eyes, lips parting in shock.
"reki, that means you haven't slept in like... 22 hours!" you scolded, whispering. the boy raised his hands defensively, shaking his head. "hey! i was worried. i mean, i did try and sleep, but it didn't work."
"yeah, sure you did."
the both of you laughed, comforted by the sound of each others voices after such a traumatic accident.
the two of you eventually fell silent, looking at each other with love in your eyes. "come here," you beckoned, holding your weak arms out to him.
he fell into them, falling down onto the bed and adjusting himself into a position that was comfortable for both of you.
eventually, the two of you fell asleep, the warmth of his breath against your neck keeping you sane through the long hours of the night.
