Chapter 4

Connie and Sasha skip along the street whilst Eren and you walk behind them. You feel a little parched from those few hours of cleaning but luckily spot a nearby stall selling water.
"Hey guys, you thirsty? I'll get you guys a drink." You offer.
"Sure we'll meet you over there, me and Connie are gonna get some food. I feel like I haven't eaten in years." Sasha grumbles.
"I'll go with you, so you aren't on your own." Eren claims, taking your hand and leading you towards the stall, Sasha and Connie going the opposite way towards the food stalls. You hand over the silver coin and take the bottles of water, putting them carefully into your shoulder bag. You give Connie and Sasha their water and inform them that you and Eren wanted to walk around for a bit.
"We'll meet you back here in say...an hour?" You suggest eith connie and Sasha eagerly nodding.
"Don't get up to too much fun though, you guys." Connie mocks with Sasha giggling at the side. You roll your eyes and laugh a bit, along with Eren and you guys split from Connie and Sasha.

"So, where are we off to first?" Eren looks at you, your eye filled with curiosity and excitement.
"Well there is this one place that nobody actually goes to, but I go here almost every night. Follow me." Eren protests, slipping his hand into yours and leading you down the cobblestone streets. Walking through the streets, you get a few waves and greetings from others. They must've noticed the uniform you was wearing and realized you was in the survey corps. A little girl even hugged Erens leg, clearly excited to meet him, as her mother tries to rip her away from his leg. You laughed hysterically as Eren internally panicked. But eventually the child lost grip and waved goodbye to you both.
"Kids scare me sometimes." Eren's shaky voice mumbles.

He carried on leading you up a small hill, burrowed in green grass. You eventually make it up to a large hillside, with an oak tree placed pleasantly in the middle. The sun was gleaming through the leaves as eren sat down underneath the branches of the tree, leaning his head against the bark. He patted a space next to him, signaling you to sit with him, so you did. You placed your shoulder bag next to you. Since it was winter, the sun set quicker. But today was a warm winter today, so thank god, it was a gorgeous sunset. You rested your head on Eren's shoulder, exhausted from the long day. He looked down at you, to see your face glow from the sun shimmering on your face; your eyes sparked, like little fire sparks as the sun reflected on them. Eren placed his head on yours, letting his soft brown hair blow in the wind.
"Beautiful isn't it?" Eren whispered. The remaining leaves on the branches shifted from left to right as you head birds chirping quietly.
"It's amazing.." you say in awe, gazing at the sun. He sees the amused look on your face and smiles. You look up to him and see his emerald eyes gaze down at yours. You both start to fade out of reality, getting lost in each others eyes before Eren remembers that you needed to meet Connie and Sasha. Breaking the stare.

"You wanna come back tonight? After dinner? Because we gotta go or we'll get back late." Eren asks and you nod slightly in agreement. When on duty, which you was supposed to be on now, Erwin and your other superiors didn't let you go outside because it was 'disturbing toward you' so you guys had to sneak in. You lifted your head up and Eren stood up, holding out his hand to help you. You grip onto it and joist yourself onto your feet, picking up your bag. You guys walked back to see Sasha and Connie already waiting for you.

When walking back to the mess hall, you couldn't stop thinking about that small moment you had with Eren at the oak tree. There was some sortve feeling there, but you couldn't point it out, so you let it slide. When you four get to the mess hall, you try to sneak it but immediately get caught when you see Levi standing in the entrance.
"Where have you four been." He asks with a slightly aggressive tone in his voice.

Busted.
