I strum the guitar in my hands, leaving a solemn tone in the air. Playing the guitar was one of my favorite pastimes, and I felt greatly relieved after doing so. It helped me relax and forget about my worries and doubts, at least for the moment.
As I was placing my instrument back in the case, I noticed a few pink petals resting on the velvet, wavering gently. I don't remember picking flowers or doing any gardening recently when I last used my guitar, so I was slightly confused. But I shook it off as I brushed them off the case, placed the guitar inside, then shut the lid carefully.
I set the guitar leaning slightly against the wall of my room, then plopped back down on my bed. I took my earbuds and my iPod, then fell asleep with the playlist humming in my ears.
I awoke again to the lulling sounds of the crickets and the hoots of the evening owls. It felt nice to relax and just listen to nature. I smiled at the sounds, then headed downstairs for a small snack. Turning on the dim lights, I took a small cup of yogurt and a spoon, then ate it quietly on the kitchen counter. I basically lived in this apartment with my roommate, but they were out tonight with their friends. So I'm alone tonight, I guess.
A sharp prick on my leg startled me, and, standing up from the table, I could see a small rose embedded in my ankle, which looked like it had only recently bloomed. I panicked as I looked through the medicine cabinet, grabbing a small bottle of rubbing alcohol and the cup of cotton balls.
I looked closer at the flower. There wasn't any blood coming from my ankle, but just in case, I dabbed a bit of alcohol on the area. I tried my best to take out the flower in the next five minutes, but it seemed to be rooted down, hard. I gave up trying to remove it, and decided to call my doctor about it tomorrow morning. I hoped that it wasn't too serious...
The next morning, I looked down at my ankle, and, of course, the flower was still planted in my ankle, but at least it didn't hurt at all. I made a doctor appointment and headed to the office. The doctor told me that it wasn't anything too serious, that it would go away soon. It was just a sign of my soulmate. He said that if another flower bloomed somewhere on my body, that means my soulmate has somehow gained a wound or some kind of cut there.
I felt relieved at his words, as well as worried. Is my soulmate okay? I do hope nothing bad happened to them... I stared at the rose, touching the petals. The petals felt soft and seemed fresh by the looks of it.
Taking a deep breath, I decided to take a walk outside. It was a nice and sunny, which I liked, as I walked down the street, greeting my neighbors and friends. I felt distracted by the thought of my designated soulmate, somewhere in this big world of ours. But what are the chances that I'll ever meet them?
