Lizzie allowed her roots to grow out because she felt more comfortable with herself. She finally allowed people to see her for who she was. The blonde was just another mask that kept people from seeing who she could be.
Lizzie and Josie spent the day cleaning their rooms of all the little things that they didn't need. Lizzie sat in front of her mirror on the floor looking at herself. Josie continued running her hands through different drawers of hers. The pair were silent in each other's presence. The noise of rumbling through materialistic items had kept them from speaking to each other.
Lizzie seemed to fade away while looking at herself. She saw a person that changed. Her hair was dark at the roots and she thought about how much she loved her sister. When it came to comparing herself to her mother, she felt she fell short of her exceptions. She wondered still if she would get a love like Stefan. If she would ever have an epic love or if that was reserved for Hope and her hobbit.
Josie turned to say something to Lizzie only to notice Lizzie wasn't really there. Josie turned back to the drawer with an old magic spell book in her hand from when they were kids. She wanted to tell Lizzie that the front page had handwriting from their mom in it. She wanted to tell her what it said.
Lizzie stood up after thinking for some time. She went to her closet and began moving the hangers one by one. She stopped when she noticed a man's black t-shirt. She ran her hand along the shirt wondering where it came from. Those memories were pushed to the back of her mind. Sebastian.
The one man that she felt ever truly loved her. MG was great, but after kissing Alyssa Chang, she couldn't look past it. She missed her chance and he knew ever even knew she liked him back.
She stared at the black t-shirt thinking about laying on the hood on that rusted car kissing Sebastian. She remembered how she felt when she put the shirt on after they had made love the first time. Her eyes gave more emotion than her facial expressions ever could. A tear spilled over her bottom eyelid.
Josie could feel her sister's sadness from across the room. She turned and saw the shirt that must have been Sebastian's. She remembered how she watched Sebastian push Alaric through the portal saving him from Diego. She also remembered what he said to her.
"Tell her something a better man would say."
Josie stood up. "Lizzie?" She said calmly. She used the tone of voice that she used when she felt guilty of something. The tone of voice that used when she finally told Hope of the crush she had on her.
She swallowed her pride. Lizzie turned around after wiping her tears. She faked a smile knowing Josie could see straight through her. "Yes?" She said smiling.
"I've told you that it's okay to miss him." Josie said.
Hope entered the room as Josie was half way through her sentence. She knew exactly who Josie was talking about. "It hurts, because it's supposed too." Hope said immediately after that. The three girls stood looking at each other in their Salvatore school uniforms.
Lizzie looked at Hope. Hope looked at Josie. Josie looked at Lizzie.
"Why are you here?" Lizzie asked.
Hope scoffed for a moment. "Your dad wanted me to find out if you had anything you wanted to give to charity. Non-magic things. We don't need a magical urn going on a river cruise again." She said.
Josie smiled at Hope. She loved looking at her. She was beautiful. She felt her cheeks blush quietly underneath the minimal makeup she put on. Lizzie continued going through her closet as if they didn't address Sebastian's death at all. She remembered him. There's no chance that he could have gotten out. She wished there was.
