"hey dani!"

"hi franny! i need your help!"

"oh gosh. tell me."

"so i'm babysitting lavender right,"

"yeah?"

"well she's here and she won't eat."

"what do you mean she won't eat?"

"well it's lunchtime obviously, and i tried everything and she just won't eat."

"and why are you calling me for this?"

"you're a woman and they're good with kids?"

"okay? but why don't you call jack?"

"i texted him like thirty minutes ago, but he arrived at the wedding so he said i should give up. but when i did that i heard her stomach growl, so i guess she is hungry."

"oh. well what have you tried giving her?"

"some fruit and a peanut butter sandwich. and i tried taking her to the kitchen so she could pick something out herself but she started kicking me, so we never made it to the kitchen."

"okay uhm, where is she right now?"

"in front of the tv. she's been obsessively staring at peppa pig for like, the last two hours."

"have you tried getting her away from the tv? or just turning it off? maybe if she can't watch that she'll focus on the food?"

"oh that's a great idea. wait i'll turn it off right now."

daniel grabs the remote of his tv, still receiving no attention from lavender. that was, until he turns the tv off. she immediately starts screaming and crying and kicking around.

"so i guess you heard how that turned out?"

"yeah i did. okay turn it back on."

in an attempt to make the little girl stop crying, he turns peppa pig back on. but the tv seems to get the silent treatment now too. she doesn't spare it a glance and is unfortunately still screaming her lungs out. why does this situation get worse every minute?

"didn't work"

"yeah i figured. okay uhm let me think."

"well it would be nice if you thought fast because my ears are currently being damaged permanently!"

"jeez calm down. does she stop crying if you give her something to eat?"

daniel picks the bowl of fruits back up and holds it out for lavender. for merely a second, because she slaps it away in the middle of her tantrum. kobe, who was confused at all the screaming, is now excited about all the food that is on the floor, waiting to be eaten by him. the seavey household was usually messy, but it had never been such a chaos.

"nope. she hit it out of my hands. kobe is now eating it all and she is still crying."

"okay i'm coming over. just, try to make her stop while i'm on my way."

"okay hurry up please! thank you!"

"see you soon!"

mission make lavender eat turned into mission make lavender quit crying. how do you stop a toddler from throwing a tantrum? candy? all children love candy, right? the only question is, do they even have sweets in their kitchen?

luckily for daniel and his ears, hopefully, the search through his kitchen cabinets ends quickly when he comes across a box of skittles. he sprints back to the couch and shakes some of the coloured sweets on his hand. he holds it out for her, but it seems like she's crying even harder now. so far for that plan.

people always sing to babies. does that work with toddlers too? well, it won't hurt trying, right?

"caught in the moment, not even thinkin' twice - everything's frozen, nothing but you and i - can't stop my heart from beating, why do i love this feeling? - make me a promise, tell me you'll stay with me - if i'm bein' honest, i don't know where this leads - but that's the only question, baby, don't keep me guessin' - ooh, you are my muse, i feel so reckless"

but this plan seems to fail too. lavender is still crying, and that almost makes two of them. daniel has lost his mind. lavender's screaming is driving him insane. why won't the child stop crying and just eat something for god's sake!

the tired blonde sits down on the couch, sighing in defeat. he tries to hug the little girl, but she doesn't want him near her. she slaps him away and continues to cry. franny better be here soon, because he can't take this much longer.
