He Asked Me to Go on a Walk

Slipping along the still frozen path,

under the newly shining sun

spring seemed to come alive,

and my heart set off at a run

no longer barefoot climbing a tree,

but stepping through the cold puddle

toes shivering, exposed in his sandals

my thoughts, emotions, mind muddled

there he was right next to me,

walking along in the woods

just like the poem I had written

coming true, I never thought it could

no, we were not hand in hand

but we were there together

baby steps, my brother said

as we enjoyed the beautiful weather
