39. waiting for you

Hyerin's POV

I put on plain baby powder on my swollen face and fake smiled at myself looking at the mirror. Grabbing the backpack, I went outside in the cold at around 6:30 in the morning to get to Sunghoon's house before going to school. It was the third day I'm walking to his house.

The guy was stubborn but I wasn't any less. I'd give my all to make him understand that it was all an accident. With a drink on my hand, I reached the guy's house and looked at my watch again. "6:50, how did I manage to come an hour before school starts?"

I said out shrugging as I waited for the guy and stood all alone hugging myself due the cold. Been waiting for about 20 minutes now for the boy to finally come out but still no response from him. Waiting for another 20 minutes I frustratedly walked towards the door and knocked twice only to be met by Sunghoon's sister. "U-unnie..." A bit nervous if the girl would ignore me like Sunghoon or not, I bit my lips to release my anxiety.

"Sunghoon left." She said blankly surprising me. Not really, it was pretty obvious for him to know I'm gonna come today as well. Sighing I sadly smiled as the patted my back before shutting the door in front. "Why are you being like this Sunghoon?" Looking down, I took small steps and walked to the campus knowing I'll probably be late for my first class.

"You're late I see." The teacher sarcastically said out as I bowed apologetically about to enter the class but got stopped by him. "Nah-ah don't come in." I quirked my eyebrows not knowing what he's doing before he scoffed. "Why?" Blankly saying I looked at all the students staring at me except the guy who looked at his book. "Because... You're late and you've detention after school."

He slightly slapped his hand with his ruler with a satisfied smile confusing me more. "Sir I was barely late. Plus I've never received detention for being late-"

But he cut me off disgustedly approaching me and leaned closer. "That was when you were a part of the top students. Not anymore Ms. Lee. So get out." I unbelievably scoffed as the students gasped a bit seeing their teacher act like this. Scoffing I glared at him and went away from the class. Angrily slamming the bag on the table I clumsily sat down tearing my hair apart.

"What a mess." Park Sunghoon you don't have to be so harsh. I waited for 40 minutes to find you nowhere and now great I got detention. The bell rang as the students came out as I hopefully approached the guy holding the drink I had brought for him. "Here." Holding the drink in front of him I slowly said hoping he'd take it but no response. He just walked by me.

"Park Sunghoon you need to understand please!" I shouted but the damn guy didn't stop for a minute and continued walking. Throwing my hands down, I sighed exhaustedly and gave up for the day.

Sunghoon's POV

Dad entered my room as I looked at him approaching me. "Sunyoung told me Hyerin came again today." He said out s I sighed looking away and continued doing my work without thinking about the girl. "Sunghoon stop it son." He sat beside me as I continued to study not caring about his words as he sighed and closed my book annoying me. "Dad I'm busy."

"Don't be so harsh towards Hyerin. The girl loves you." Looking away I clicked my tongue feeling some sort of anger inside me at the mention of Lee Hyerin. "I've work to do dad. If you don't mind, could you please leave." The older person gave up standing and patted my shoulder. "Think about it." He said closing the door as I let out a deep breathe.

At around 6:30 I got out of the house to get to school extra early since obviously I didn't wanna ruin my mood every morning. But I hoped the girl wouldn't wait for me so early in the morning. "Ah you came out." I stopped at the voice as the girl excitedly stood up in front of me with a soft smile that I ignored. She followed me.

"I brought you an apple." She said but me being stubborn continued walking with no reply until I felt Hyerin hold my hand and swiftly put the apple in it. "What are you doing?" Coldly saying I glared at her. "Uhm you probably didn't have breakfast so eat it. You'll feel good."

But you didn't eat anything as well. I freed my grip on the apple as it fell down and rolled towards the girl who looked at it, balling her fists as she closed her eyes once again trying to control the anger as I scoffed leaving her behind. But she pulled my hand making me face her. "Sunghoon stop being stubborn." Gritting my teeth I avoided her eyes.

Pushing her away I continued walking. Hyerin sighed as she continued following behind me without saying anything. "I feel so sleepy Sunghoon." I stopped hearing it and looked back at her who yawned.

She was about to fall as I held her shoulders immediately causing her head to land on my chest. The girl sleepily closed her eyes and took the chance hugging me while I stood still for a moment but pushed her away. "Don't wait for me from now on." She cheekily smiled at me and came closer. "Why? Are you worried I'll get sick and tired by following you around all day?"

Yes.

"I just don't want to see your face all the time. It haunts me." I lied with those hurtful words as her smile disappeared. I noticed her shocked eyes tearing up slightly and quickly avoided them. "You're hurting me Sunghoon." She called out to me with her weak tone.

"Stop annoying me Lee Hyerin. Don't come near me. You won't get hurt." And I said those with a heavy heart leaving the girl all alone in the cold weather.
