Description: You and Opie finally get a break from the craziness of club life and you use it for a family grocery shopping trip.
"Ope," I said chuckling at him as he and the oldest two added more junk food to the grocery cart.
"What?" He asked. "These are the best."
"Baby," I said. "No."
"Please (Y/N)?" Kenny asked. I sighed and looked at Opie as he made faces at Tony, our infant son.
"See what you did?" I asked.
"I didn't do anything," he said.
"Alright, I'll make you all a deal," I said. "You can each pick out one junk food, but that's the only treat you're getting."
"But I want two," Kenny said.
"You heard (Y/N)," Opie said.
"Thanks," I said. "But I was including you."
We continued walking up and down the aisles as I grabbed things we needed from the shelf and let Ellie and Kenny help me load the cart.
"I think we've got it all," I said.
"What are we having for dinner?" Opie asked.
I shrugged as we headed towards the check out.
"Did everyone get their treat?" I asked.
"Chips," Kenny said, still carrying his bag of Doritos.
"Swedish Fish," Ellie said.
I looked at Opie and he just stared at me. I knew that look in his eyes and I knew it meant trouble.
"Keep that comment in your head while in public," I said softly as I walked closer to him and made a face at Tony. He smiled back and babbled a little.
I grabbed an iced coffee from the cooler as we walked by it and Opie started unloading things onto the belt. Luckily we didn't have like an insane amount of things so we were able to get everything packed quickly and back in the cart. Opie paid and we headed out to the car. I loaded Tony into the car as Opie loaded the groceries and Kenny and Ellie got in.
I climbed into the passenger seat.
"Everyone buckled?" I asked. Kenny was struggling a bit but let Ellie help him so when Opie got in the car they were ready to go.
"What do you say we get mom to take the kids for the night?" Opie asked softly as he drove home.
"On this short of notice?" I asked.
"Fine tomorrow?" He suggested.
I nodded a little and he smiled. I relaxed into the seat a bit more as Tony started crying.
"Ellie, what's wrong with your brother?" Opie asked as I was turning around to look at the kids.
"I don't know," she said.
"Pull over," I said as clicked to unbuckle myself.
I got out the second the car was in park. Normally crying wouldn't have phased me but this wasn't tired or annoyed crying, this was actual in pain type crying.
As I was checking on him, Opie got out and walked around the car too.
"What's going on?" He asked.
"I don't know," I said trying to stay calm as I took him out of the seat and continued to check him. Even being held wouldn't calm him down.
"We've only got a few more minutes til we're home," I said. "He'll make it and I'll check him out a bit more."
Opie and I got back in and he rushed to get us home. I took our still screaming infant into the house as Opie got the older two to help with the groceries. I immediately headed to the nursery and laid him down on his changing table. I pulled his clothes off to check for visible signs of pain but I couldn't find anything. I picked him up and cooed to him a bit before it clicked. I pulled his head off my shoulder and stuck my finger in his mouth. Sure enough he was cutting teeth.
"Poor baby," I said as I put his onsie back on him and headed down to the kitchen to put away the groceries as I bounced him.
"I've figured it out," I said as Opie looked up at the sound of crying.
"Yeah?"
"He's teething," I said.
"Well at least we know he's okay," Opie said.
I nodded and put Tony in his bouncer so I could help with the groceries.
Before long we had them all put away and Opie and I were struggling to figure out what to make for dinner.
"Kids," Opie yelled and drew the kids into kitchen.
"What do you want for dinner?" I asked.
"Chicken nuggets and French fries," Kenny said earning a chuckle from me.
"Chicken Alfredo," Ellie said.
"So chicken is a yes," Opie said. I grabbed some chicken from the fridge and sat it on the counter.
"How about some fried chicken and homemade noodles and I'll find a vegetable," I said.
They agreed so Opie and I started to work as the kids went to watch a movie in the living room.
"Today was good," Opie said.
"Today was perfect. We got to just be a normal family for once and doing boring and mundane things like grocery shopping. No crazy lockdowns or club business or anything," I said. "Ope, I love the club but damn you see them more than us."
"Are you jealous?" He asked teasingly.
"Yeah a little," I said. I walked over and kissed his lips quickly.
"Mm, I can tell," he said. I rolled my eyes and shoved him. "I love doing boring and mundane with you."
"Me too babe."
"I'm gonna go call mom about tomorrow if you've got this." I nodded so he walked away, leaving me smiling at the thought of my family.
